Amrik is a fourth year dental student at King's College London. He is working with Sterling Dental College as a promotional representative. He has previously held the role of being a volunteer for Oxfam and is currently a volunteer for the Sikh Welfare and Awareness Team. Balvinder Khambay

Balvinder qualified from the School of Dentistry, University of Birmingham with a B.D.S. (Distinction in Clinical Dentistry), in December 1993. Balvinder then returned to The University of Birmingham in 1995 to start his PhD, which he was awarded in December 1999. During this time, he obtained his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998. After this he relocated to Glasgow and was appointed as a Clinical Lecturer/Honorary Specialist Registrar in Orthodontics. In June 2002, he was awarded his Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and in 2004 he became an accredited NHS Orthodontic Consultant. In 2012, he left the UK to work as an Associate Professor in orthodontics at the University of Hong Kong. He is at present employed as Clinical Chair Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Birmingham and honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong. He is Academic Lead of the Orthodontic Department. Balvinder was previously Professor at the University of Leeds. He has been involved in developing new undergraduate and international postgraduate training programmes in orthodontics both nationally and internationally. Balvinder has a longstanding interest in 3D and 4D imaging, especially in the correction of facial deformity working closely with his Oral and Maxillo-facial surgical colleagues. In particular, his interests lie in the three-dimensional planning for orthognathic patients. He is currently developing the ‘virtual patient' which will be used for 3D patient specific planning in a surgical environment. Recently, Balvinder has begun research into how 4D technology can assess patients, through a 4D motion capture system. He is currently pursuing research into cleft lip and palate and facial palsy to measure how people's faces are moving in order to measure the outcome via dynamic motion. His overall aim is to make the University of Birmingham the centre of excellence in the UK for the correction of facial deformities in 3D. He is also supervising several MSc's and PhD's in the area of 3D imaging, in particular using stereophotogrammetry. He has published in both in national and international journals and lectured internationally on this research and has published a textbook in surgical planning. Balvinder is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh for the Membership in Orthodontics examination and also for the ISFE exit exam. Balvinder was also Examiner for the Exit Examination in the Specialty of Orthodontics for the College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong between 2014 and 2015.

Christina Cunliffe

Professor Christina Cunliffe obtained her PhD from the University of Manchester in 1978, and is a graduate of the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Abingdon. She was awarded her personal Chair from the University of Wales in 2010. A Chartered Biologist, she is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors. She served on the Royal College Council between 1999 and 2013 and is still a member of its Lay Partnership Group which highlights the patient perspective. Until recently she sat for many years on the regulatory body for chiropractic, the General Chiropractic Council, and was a member of its Education Committee. For the past 5 years, Christina was Dean of the School of Health within BPP University, and was a member of the BPP University Board. She is also Principal of the McTimoney College of Chiropractic (part of the School of Health), a role she has maintained since 1998. A well published researcher, she is also a Visiting Lecturer at a number of other universities and medical schools.

Dr Brian Franks

Brian is the Course Director and Senior Lecturer for the City of London Dental School, Natural Rejuvenation and Aesthetic Non-Surgical Interventions PGA, PGCert and PGDip Programmes. He is a Facial Aesthetics Practitioner and Joint Principal of the highly acclaimed Dr Brian Franks Facial Aesthetics Training Courses which have been independently moderated and quality assured to fulfil the nationally recognised academic standards, required by OCN Credit4Learning. Brian is a Visiting Senior Lecturer, MClinDent Programme, BPP University/City of London Dental School; Supporting Clinical Tutor, MSc Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics, School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Central Lancashire; Member of Health Education England, Cosmetic Nonsurgical Interventions Expert Reference Group (ERG) and Task and Finish Group. Brian is on the board of Save Face, a PSA accredited centralised register, that enables the consumer to search, compare and rate Save Face Accredited practitioners and premises against a stringent set of standards by a Save Face Clinical Assessor. He is an experienced lecturer and teacher within the aesthetics/cosmetics and dental industries. Brian was formerly the Clinical Director, Dentistry, for Bupa (UK) and is a Fellow of The Pierre Fauchard Academy ("Fellowship of this distinguished Honour Academy is by invitation only and is limited to ethical dentists who have made a significant contribution to the profession and the community"). Brian works as an Expert Witness - being a Member of the Expert Witness Institute as well as being a member of the General Dental Council Private Patients Complaints Panel. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Dr George P Cherukara

I am a clinical-academic in Restorative Dentistry, who is on the specialist lists (Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Endodontics and Periodontics) maintained by the General Dental Council. I have maintained a private practice in Restorative Dentistry since 2004. My research interests spreads across the spectrum of Restorative Dentistry with particular emphasis on clinical quality outcomes and use of new technologies in teaching. I have been involved with UG and PG teaching and assessment since 2004.

Dr Maher Almasri

Dr Almasri is also highly interested in Surgical Education and developed his pioneer modules using cadaveric samples. Dr Wyman Chan

Over the last 20 years, Wyman has worked with all major home and power whitening systems. His PhD research led to seven UK and US patents with several more pending. Wyman won the prestigious Procter and Gamble Investigator Award at the 2008 International Association for Dental Research (IADR) meeting in Toronto, Canada. He was selected as a chairperson for a poster discussion session at IADR meeting in Barcelona in July 2010. He presented a clinical paper on a new home whitening system using a spectrophotometer to measure the shade of each tooth in three areas, the cervical, body and the incisal area. Through his research and experience of treating thousands of patients, Wyman has discovered some important phenomena in the texture of teeth, and harnessed them to establish some important protocols and metrics that have contributed to the understanding and improvement on safety and efficacy of teeth whitening processes. He has published some important hypotheses in teeth whitening processes, which help to evaluate the texture of the enamel of the teeth structure. He is well credited as the inventor of the painless teeth whitening techniques and products including Perfect Trays and the award winning Get2Smile. In 2010, Wyman was appointed as Clinical Associate Teacher at the Institute of Clinical Education, Warwick Dentistry, University of Warwick. He lectures internationally and has had many articles published in dental journals. He wrote a chapter entitled ‘Scientific Advances in Tooth-whitening Processes' within in the book, ‘The Art of Treatment Planning' Dental and Medical Approaches to the Face and Smile, by Quintessence Publishing October 2009.

Currently he work's part time working with the Sterling team to develop the website, whilst also having worked at his local opticians for the past 6 years. Whilst at King's, Gurpreet has taken on many responsibilities and roles. This includes; having worked as a Mentor for PassDental; Being an active part of Nishaan, which is the largest inter- university Sikh Society in Europe; Being a Make a Dentist representative; ambassadorial role with DentSpace and having recently joined the British Sikh Doctors Organisation, where he volunteers with screening events organised all over the UK alongside other healthcare professionals.

She is the Chairman of the London Regional Group of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy, having served as Secretary for two years. Hayley is a DCP Tutor for the London Deanery and works part time as a Research Associate in Dental Hygiene at Eastman Dental Hospital. She is also a DCP member of the Investigating Committee of the General Dental Council and a recipient of the 2010 Colgate DCP Research Award and the Premier Awards.

Nairn Wilson

Nairn Wilson, Immediate-past President of the British Dental Association, is Emeritus Professor of Dentistry, King's College London, where he was Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Dean and Head of the College's internationally renowned Dental Institute between 2001 and 2012, and Deputy Vice Principal (Health) between 2009 and 2012, before being appointed Honorary Professor of Dentistry (2012-2106). Nairn's many other positions in dentistry have included Editor of the Journal of Dentistry (1986-2000), Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (1995-1998), President of the Academy of Operative Dentistry European Section (1998-2000), President of the General Dental Council (1999-2003), Co-chair of the Forum of European Heads and Deans of Dental Schools (2007- 2012) and more recently Professional Strategic Executive, European Federation of Periodontology (2012 to date). His current interests are healthcare regulation, international trends in dental education, and future developments in the clinical practice of dentistry. He continues to author and edit many different contributions to the dental literature, while serving as Patron or Trustee of various dental charities. His various honours and awards, in addition to his CBE, include a Dentistry Lifetime Contribution Award, the Award of Excellence of the Academy of Operative Dentistry European Section, and the John Tomes Medal of the British Dental Association.
