Prof. dr. Flavio H. Marchesini is a scientist, critical thinker, problem solver and educator with over 15-years experience in rheology, non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, complex materials, transport phenomena and industrial processes. He holds a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and master's and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He gained industry experience at Halliburton, where he worked as Senior Research Engineer and Fluid Mechanics Area Leader. During this time, he was selected as a high-potential employee, followed leadership courses offered by Texas A&M University and obtained an Executive MBA degree at COPPEAD Graduate School of Business. He returned to academia as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Rheology Group at PUC-Rio, then moved to Ghent University as a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on 3D printing of different materials, and is currently a professorial staff member (100% ZAP) of the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering at UGent.
