ELP ENGINEERING

ELP Engineering is owned by Elaine Pflugh and was started in 2003. Elaine earned a degree in Civil Engineering from UAA and worked at the US Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District as an Engineering Technician during college. After graduating college, she went through the Corps Intern program where she spent 6 weeks to 4 months in various sections of the Corps such a Geotech, structures, civil sanitary, program management, construction and ended up getting a position in the Hydraulics and Hydrology Section after finishing the internship. She designed boat harbors and erosion protection projects, performed physical and computer modeling of projects, wrote reports to get projects funded and produced plans and specs to get projects built. She earned her Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification while working at the Corps. She left the Corps shortly after her first daughter was born to be able to be home for her daughter more and started ELP Engineering.
