Dr. Pattison was born in Kansas City, Missouri, graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kansas, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed a Medical Internship and Residency at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York. He then spent three years with the Centers for Disease Control, Phoenix Laboratories Division in Phoenix, Arizona - initially as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer, then as Chief - Epidemiology Division. Dr. Pattison completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City. Kansas, and was in private practice in the Kansas City area for 18 years before assuming the position of Medical Director of Tri-Med Specialties. Inc., a medical product company started by Dr. Pattison and two others. Tri-Med Specialties, Inc. manufactured and internationally marketed CLOtest, the rapid urease diagnostic tool for Helicobacter pylori. Tri-Med also received FDA approval for the C-14 urea breath test for H. pylori. One of Dr. Pattlson's business partners was Dr. Barry Marshall, who won the Nobel Prize for Medicine. As CEO, Dr. Pattison negotiated the sale of Tri-Med to Ballard Medical Products, Draper, Utah. He returned to his private practice in 2001. Dr. Pattison is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology as well as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine. Dr. Pattison has published over 50 scientific articles or abstracts, two of which were selected for the prestigious Yearbook of Medicine in consecutive years. He has given two formal FDA presentations, a national press conference, and is a reviewer for several medical journals.

Ms. Pattison was born in Rolla, Missouri, and received her Registered Nurse degree from the Burge School of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri. Following graduation, she was an intensive care unit nurse - cardiovascular specialty at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, where she later became Director of the Gastrointestinal Laboratory. For nearly 20 years she was a private practice nurse and office manager for her husband's gastroenterology practice. She later joined her husband with Tri-Med Specialties, Inc. in Lenexa, Kansas, where she was Director of Quality Assurance and head of in-house sales for the C-14 urea breath test for Helicobacter pylori and Micro-Count scintillation counter. Her experience with the C-14 urea breath test led her to be involved in published research studies of the possible relationship of Helicobacter pylori to multiple pulmonary diseases. With the sale of the company to Ballard Medical Products, Draper, Utah, she returned to private practice nursing in 2001, where she is currently involved with her husband's gastroenterology practice as nurse clinician and endoscopy assistant. Ms. Pattison was involved in some of the earliest studies of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy techniques and has been involved in over 1,000 PEG procedures. Because of her expertise in this area she has presented at an SGNA regional meeting and ultimately formulated the ideas for novel surgical techniques for laparoscopic surgery as well as intra/transgastric surgery devices.
