Originally founded in May 1989 as the Daring Explorations Theater Company by Jeanmarie Simpson, the name was changed to the Nevada Shakespeare Festival in 1998 and officially became the Nevada Shakespeare Company in 2002. Unfortunately the NSC was abandoned by the board of directors in February 2014 and its corporate status was allowed to lapse. Recognizing the need for this type of important cultural organization in our state a newly formed Nevada Shakespeare Company board was established in August of 2014.
