Gordon Riddle

Gordon Riddle is the owner of Square One Physical Therapy, LLC, a private physical therapy practice. Dr. Riddle is board certified in both orthopedic and sports physical therapy (OCS/SCS), certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). After graduating from Mercyhurst University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine, he attended Chatham University earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy. Dr. Riddle has practiced clinically in the area of orthopedic and sports physical therapy. He is experienced in providing individualized evidence-based care to patients with a variety of orthopedic and sports related conditions which afforded him the opportunity to treat professional, Olympic, collegiate, high school and youth athletes as well as provide orthopedic care for patients across all ages. Gordon has also served as visiting assistant professor at Chatham University in the School of Health Sciences, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2015-2016). He currently serves as an adjunct faculty member for Chatham and Slippery Rock Universities teaching in the area of sports and orthopedics physical therapy as well as injury prevention and ergonomics. Gordon is a consultant to Giant Eagle Corporation providing onsite injury prevention strategies and ergonomic evaluations. He has also consulted with the safety team at Bayer Corporation performing motion analysis and defining job demands. Gordon serves his community screening athletes that participate in local youth sports programs and he also performs home safety inspections for seniors in an attempt to promote optimal wellbeing. His clinical interests include providing hands-on care to his patients in order to optimize biomechanical efficiency and function through wellness, prevention, and rehabilitation. Gordon gets a great level of satisfaction providing individualized one-on-one patient care and mentoring students. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters and prefers to be outdoors whenever possible.

Melissa Bednarek

Melissa Bednarek is currently an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. She has a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and Psychology from St. Bonaventure University and a Master of Physical Therapy from MCP Hahnemann University. Following four years of full time experience in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation, she returned to graduate school to complete a PhD in Physiology at Virginia Commonwealth University. The focus of her research was on the length-tension relationship in vascular smooth muscle. Upon completion in 2009, she joined the faculty at Chatham University where she then earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. At Chatham, she currently teaches exercise physiology, cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy and the pharmacology thread throughout the curriculum. Her research has focused on interprofessional education and high-fidelity simulation in physical therapy education. Since being in Pittsburgh, Melissa has practiced in acute care, outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation and currently home health. She became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy in 2014. With her experiences in pulmonary rehabilitation, she joined the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and is currently Chair of the Planning Committee for the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Assembly.

Nicole Costa

Nicole earned her Bachelor of Exercise Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where she developed a love of lifelong fitness and the science of the human body. Following her undergraduate education, Nicole received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Chatham University, and further realized her interest in orthopedic rehabilitation. She has been working in an outpatient setting for 5 years, treating patients of all ages in a variety of clinical areas including post-operative, orthopedics, performing arts medicine, and geriatrics. Nicole is certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as an Orthopedic Specialist. Outside of the clinic, Nicole enjoys being in the great outdoors, knitting, photography, and theater as well as spending time with her husband, daughter, and dachshund.
