BOYNECLARKE - Key Persons
Larry has prepared several thousand wills and trusts over his career. Today, he serves as counsel to the Wills and Estates team at BOYNECLARKE LLP, but still enjoys the opportunity to draft or assist with the drafting of a will that may involve complex issues.
Larry's experience led to his appointment as the Canadian Bar Association representative on the N.S. Law Reform Commission Advisory Committee, reviewing reform of the Probate Act. The committee report led to the passage of the current Probate Act of Nova Scotia.
Larry was a member of the part-time faculty member at Dalhousie University Law School for eight years lecturing on civil trial practice and was co-editor, with David Miller, Q.C., in the publication "Trial Practice Case Materials". He has presented papers at conferences and seminars, including conferences for the CLE Society of Nova Scotia.
Allen is a Partner and a member of the Real Estate and Property Team. Buying a home is one of the biggest and hardest decisions someone will have to make. Allen's goal is to make sure the entire process runs smoothly. Allen is able to provide sound advice in the purchasing of a home, guide homeowners through contract negotiations and ownership contracts and ensure everything is approved for closing.
Allen is an active member of the real estate community. He is a member of Real Estate Lawyers Association of Nova Scotia (RELANS), The Nova Scotia Barristers' Society and the Canadian Bar Association. Allen is also licensed to practice law in both PEI and New Brunswick. He currently volunteers with the Nova Scotia Nature Trust.

Allison is an Associate on the Business Litigation team. Her practice consists mainly of civil and commercial litigation, including construction law, contract and tort, property and insurance disputes, and personal injury. Cassie is an Associate and member of the Wills, Estates & Trusts team. Her practice focuses on estate & incapacity planning and estate administration. Cassie strives to provide excellent service to her clients through relationships built on trust, compassion and professionalism.
Cassie is currently a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society and is a former member of the Law Society of Newfoundland & Labrador. She also holds a certificate of specialization in Health Law and Policy from the Health Law Institute at Dalhousie University.

Ciara is an Associate and member of the Family Law team. She brings to her practice a passion for access to justice and helping families.
When not in the office or courtroom, Ciara enjoys travel and spending time outdoors. She lives in Prospect with her husband and two cats.

Duan is an Associate and member of both the Real Estate and Wills, Estates and Trusts teams. Duan strives to provide excellent service to his clients and understands that client relationships are built and centered on trust, loyalty, professionalism and being genuine.
Duan is currently a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society and serves on various committees and boards. He is a board member for the Nova Scotia Golf Association, a member of the Nova Scotia Golf Association's Finance Committee, Chair for the Nova Scotia Golf Association's Diversity & Inclusion Committee, a Committee member for the Black Lives Matter Golf Initiative and a Governance Committee Member for Basketball Nova Scotia's Discipline Panel. As an Associate and a member of the Family Law team, Esther brings a compassionate approach to her practice.
During her law school years, Esther was the President of the Christian Law Society at University of New Brunswick. She organized events for students and collaborated with other societies, including the Mental Health Society and the Law Society. Esther uses her training and time with those organizations to face every challenge with a sense of empathy.
When not in the office, Esther enjoys camping with her husband or curling up with her cat and a good book.
"My practice is litigation and I handle trial and appellant work throughout the Atlantic Provinces. I have also been involved in a number of Supreme Court of Canada cases. I handle contract litigation of all kinds including business, property, securities, employment and estates. As well, I carry on a media law practice that involves all manner of defamation claims."
George Clarke is a Partner and member of both the Real Estate Team and Estates Team. As a member and Chair of the Estates Team, he assists clients with the preparation of their estate plans through wills, enduring powers of attorney, personal directives ("living wills"), and trust planning. He also assists executors and heirs in administering estates in both the probate and estate administration processes.
As part of his Real Estate practice, George works with clients, real estate agents, bankers and mortgage brokers in the purchase, sale and refinance of residential property.
George is an accomplished musician. He started playing the drums in grade 6 and has two degrees in music from St. F.X. and McGill. He free-lanced in Montreal and Ottawa in the late 1980's and early 1990's and also taught music in private schools in Montreal. George continues to pursue his interest in music as drummer with the popular local band, "The Classics".

Jamie is the CEO and Managing Partner of the firm. His practice is primarily focused on Construction Law and Commercial Litigation. He has provided advice and litigated construction cases involving lien claims and disputes, bidding and tendering issues, delay claims, negligence, contract disputes, design issues, building deficiencies, etc. He has also represented clients in many arbitration and mediation cases. Jamie is included in The Best Lawyers in Canada publication for Construction Law, and has been each year since 2016.
Jamie is a Board Member and Vice Chair of Events East Group, and a Board Member of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia. He is also a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Law Society of Newfoundland & Labrador, the Construction Association of Nova Scotia and the Canadian Bar Association. He has volunteered with Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia and the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia. Jamie has also been a long-time coach for Dunbrack Youth Soccer and has volunteered in the past as team treasurer for several of the Halifax Hawks Minor Hockey Teams.
John is a Partner practicing in the areas of Loan and Mortgage Enforcement and Real Estate. He is a past member of the firm's Executive Committee and is the Creditor Practice Team Lead.
John was appointed King's Counsel (formally Queen's Counsel) in 2008 and has been included in The Best Lawyers in Canada since 2012. He is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the 2014 Weldon Award for Unselfish Public Service. In 2016, he was inducted into the Bertha Wilson Honour Society.
John has been recognized for his involvement in a number of community organizations and charities. He is a former chair of the Saint Mary's University Board of Governors. He currently sits on the boards of the Halifax International Airport Authority, World Wildlife Fund Canada and the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation.
Katie is an associate on our Business Litigation team with a diverse practice in civil litigation, including business and construction litigation. Katie is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and Nova Scotia Barrister's Society.

With over 25 years of experience, Peter is a highly accomplished and capable senior member of the Family Law Team. He works diligently with collaborative family law and is trained and skilled in resolving matters amicably out of the courtroom through alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
Throughout his legal career, Peter has observed how the emotional toil of divorce or other family law matters can fatigue and depress even the strongest of individuals. He understands the physical and psychological effect a family law matter can have on an individual, particularly the stress that presents itself when taking your case to court.
Provided with the proper tools and practical guidance, Peter has found that most situations are resolvable with a fair outcome for both parties. He encourages his clients to take a step back and look at the big picture when deciding how to approach their situation.

Tracy's litigation practice is focused on construction and commercial disputes, estate litigation, property disputes, and professional negligence.
Tracy routinely provides advice and represents clients on complex construction disputes, including Builder's lien claims, and disputes related to delays, deficiencies, bidding and tendering, contract interpretation, negligent workmanship, etc.
In addition to construction law, Tracy regularly provides advice and guidance on Estate litigation matters, property disputes, leasing disputes, Quieting of Titles Applications, and general business litigation matters.
Tracy is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers Society, the Canadian Bar Association, and was a past instructor of civil (litigation) procedure at Dalhousie University Schulich School of Law. Tracy is active in her community, and is on the Executive Committee of Techsploration, a not-for-profit organization which empowers young women to explore careers in science, trades, engineering and technology.
Tracy is an avid traveler. Prior to attending law school, she interned with the Judicial Service in Ghana, West Africa. Through this internship she authored the monograph titled Judicial Reform and its Impact on the Administration of Justice, published by The Judicial Service of Ghana in collaboration with CUSO and the National Judicial Institute. While at Dalhousie she also completed an academic exchange term at the National University of Singapore, Singapore.
