Andrew had aspirations of being a dentist from aged 12 and qualified in 2005 from Cardiff Dental school achieving a Merit for clinical and academic achievement. These aspirations gave him the drive and motivation to own and establish the caring family practice of which he is now Principal, Wadebridge Dental. Andrew started his career as a foundation dentist at Wadebridge dental in 2005 and went on to own the practice in 2007 at the age of 26. Dentistry is a profession he has a great passion and enthusiasm for and still enjoys greatly to this day.
From the outset Andrew has aimed for the highest standard of clinical dentistry with an obsession for detail and keeping the client central to their pain free care. This is a quality he instills in all members of the team and is deeply routed in the practice values and ethos. The practice prides itself in a long and established history providing care for whole families and in some cases 5 generations of the same family. Andrew has created a strong bond with his patients.
In his 20 years in practice Andrew has developed an interest in Cosmetic and Advanced Treatment including Dental Implants, Teeth Straightening (Invisalign, Six month smiles, Fastbraces, Inman Aligner), Teeth Whitening, Veneers, Root Canal Treatments, Crown and Bridgework, Sedation, Facial Aesthetics as well as General Dentistry to give you the best smile and put you at ease.
Andrew has completed advanced training in Dental Implants at the International Team for Implantology, and gone on to achieve a certificate in bone and tissue regeneration and sinus grafting. This training allows Andrew to place complex Implants with precision and predictable results. Straumann are one of the highest regarded dental implant providers in the world and the brand Andrew uses at the practice. Andrew is also a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and a registered Dental Implant Mentor with ADI.
Andrew fully embraces digital dentistry with an intra oral scanner and CBCT scanner to provide the best care and outcomes for all his patients.
Andrew completed a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry in January 2020 and achieved a Distinction. This qualification along with his implant training allows him to replace missing Teeth or Teeth restored with crowns/bridges to an exceptional level. Andrew also provides Composite Bonding and is a certified Bioclear provider
Continuing comprehensive postgraduate training keeps him up to date with the latest thinking, treatments and technology to provide for his patients.
He also lectures to Foundation Dentists passing on his extensive knowledge, skills and experience to newly qualified dentists.
In 2009 Andrew was elected as Chairman of the Local Dental Committee for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly allowing him to influence dentistry and represent, guide and help local dentists in Cornwall. Also representing the south-west region nationally on the GDPC-LDC liaison group which meets quarterly at the British Dental Association.
Andrew was Awarded a ‘Certificate of Merit for Services to the profession' by the British Dental Association in 2019. It recognises members who have given special service at any level of dentistry either nationally or internationally and is reserved for dentists and other persons who have contributed to academic or other work in furthering the profession, or for individuals active in promoting advancements within the dental profession.
Outside dentistry, Andrew moved to Cornwall in 2005 and set up home with his wife Melissa who qualified as a dentist in the same year and now also works at the practice. In his spare time he enjoys keeping fit, watching rugby union / formula 1 and time spent with his wife and their cocker spaniel Henry on long walks - soaking up the Cornish sunshine.

Jason Smithson is an In-Demand World Renowned Cosmetic and Advanced Restorative Dentist who works as part of our multidisciplinary clinical team here at Wadebridge Dental in Cornwall, providing cosmetic treatments such as composite bonding, crowns, veneers and cosmetic dentures to the highest aesthetic level. At our dental practice in North Cornwall Jason Smithson is our lead dentist for these cosmetic treatments and advanced adhesive dentistry and works very closely with our team that offer dental implants, Invisalign and hygiene treatments.
Jason is the owner of Oral Alchemy Dental Seminars and a partner in The Restorative Programme: both are innovative education providers working internationally. www.restorativeprogramme.co.uk
In addition to this, Jason has developed unique burr systems with Meissinger, Komet and Brassler and a direct resin instrument kit with American Eagle.
Returning home to Cornwall in 2005 after qualifying with a merit from Cardiff Dental School, Melissa worked her foundation year in Falmouth. She continued to work as an associate dentist in Falmouth until 2013. Now working at Wadebridge as a principal with her husband Andrew, she enjoys being a part of the fantastic team on a part time basis.
She has previously been a member of the Local Dental committee from 2010 to 2021 where she also became secretary of the committee
Outside of work Melissa enjoys cooking, reformer pilates, sunny holidays and walking their energetic cocker spaniel Henry!
Pam has worked as a Dentist in Cornwall since she qualified from Guy's Hospital Dental School in 1991. She ran her own practice for 14 years before moving on to work for the NHS as a Salaried Dentist.
Pam joined Wadebridge Dental in 2019 and is enjoying working with our great team of talented clinicians and having access to modern and innovative technology. She has been continuing to study and expand her skill set and has been awarded a Masters Degree in Oral Surgery with Distinction by the University of Plymouth. This means that she can carry out Oral Surgery procedures for our patients here at the practice rather than them having to join a long hospital waiting list and then travel to Treliske or Derriford hospital for treatment. Pam has also received a Post graduate Certificate in Dental Education and teaches international BDS students in conjunction with UCLan
Emily joined Wadebridge Dental Care to pursue a new challenge following 10 years in the hospitality industry.
In her spare time, she is a big "Lord of the Rings" and fantasy fan. She also enjoys being creative with embroidery as well as spending time with her cat, Smudge.

Philippa graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2007 where she worked in general practice for two years both within Sheffield itself and the wider South Yorkshire region. In 2009 Philippa moved to Oxfordshire with her husband Damien, with a large proportion of this time being spent working in private practice. In-between having their two young boys, Philippa completed a Certificate in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry and is a registered Bioclear Practitioner. In 2017 she became an Invisalign provider and over the past two years has completed the Clear Aligner Therapy Diploma in London and the Advanced Diploma in Clear Aligner Therapy. Philippa started working at Wadebridge Dental in early 2021 and is currently one of the only 2 dentists in Cornwall (both at Wadebridge Dental) to have this postgraduate qualification. Philippa now regularly acts as an advisor for other Dentists who require help planning their Invisalign cases.
Patient care is at the forefront of Philippa's clinical practice, helping patients achieve the smile they have always wanted. She enjoys all aspects of aesthetic dentistry, and has a keen eye for detail when it comes to achieving the best cosmetic results.
When not running after their two young boys Philippa enjoys being outdoors exploring the Cornish countryside with her family on walks and bike rides. Philippa recently completed the Blenheim Triathlon and regularly completes Swimming marathons for charity. To offset all this exercise, Philippa loves to bake, with her chocolate orange brownie's being her piece de resistance!
