Later it was discovered that these were flares and incendiaries jettisoned by a German Bomber which had been shot down by one of our fighters prior to crashing at the nearby village of Leghourne, Louth. The incendiaries pierced the slate roof setting fire to the timbers and the house was soon ablaze...
