Benjamin Lund

Dr. Lund heads the research and engineering teams at Adaptive3D. He leverages his extensive background in organic and small-molecule chemistry to engineer materials for precision control of their thermo-mechanical properties, including toughness in all directions and oxygen-tolerance. Prior to working for Adaptive3D, Dr. Lund worked at the Center for Engineering Innovation at UT Dallas where he managed multimillion-dollar research grants in addition to leading research and mentoring students. He was the site administrator at the Center for Energy Harvesting Materials and Systems and is an inventor on more than 10 patents. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from UT Dallas, making him an exceptional addition to our team of 3D printing experts.

Carlos Barrios

Dr. Barrios leads the Product Development efforts at Adaptive3D. He combines extensive industrial experience in polymer chemistry with a solid background in chemical engineering for successful development of differentiated resin solutions for Additive Manufacturing. Prior to working for Adaptive3D, Dr. Barrios held a decade-long tenure in a Fortune 500 company, where he developed polymer-based groundbreaking technologies and drove them into commercialization with multimillion-dollar impact on sales. He is co-inventor on more than 10 patents, with some of them still associated with revenue generation. He obtained his B.E. in Chemical Engineering from The National University of Colombia, M.S. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Akron, and Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from the same university. Dr. Barrios is one of our 3D printing experts with the most experience in innovation execution of novel photo-curable, polymeric materials.

Dodd Grande

Dr. Grande is the Vice President of Engineering and Applications Development. He has over 35 years of industry experience in development, characterization, testing and validation of polymeric and composite materials, as well as aerospace and sporting goods products. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Seattle University and holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Grande brings experience from Boeing Commercial Aircraft where he worked on advanced applications of composite materials for commercial aircraft, and K2 Sports where he led the product development and engineering teams developing innovative sports equipment for one of the world's leading sporting goods manufacturers.

Dr. Walter Everett Voit - CEO, Founder

Dr. Walter Everett Voit is an entrepreneurial CEO from the University of Texas at Dallas and explores the thermomechanics and cure kinetics of shape memory polymers, flexible bioelectronics, next generation neural interfaces, 3-D printing, and degradable polymers and studies the effects of ionizing radiation on polymers. Dr. Voit is a cofounder and Chief Executive Officer of Adaptive3D, which licensed intellectual property from both Georgia Tech and UT Dallas in pursuit of next-generation acoustics and additive manufacturing based on specialty polymers and thiol chemistries. Adaptive3D closed its Series B Venture Funding round in Jan. 2019 and its capitalization table included strategic partners representing Applied Materials, DSM now Covestro, Arkema, West Pharma, Chemence and the founding family of Texas Instruments, the McDermott family, at the time of its acquisition by Desktop Metal (NYSE: DM) in May 2021. Dr. Voit is a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Director's Fellow and multi-program DARPA performer and sits on the Executive Committee and the Science and Technology Chair of the Council on Ionizing Radiation Measurements and Standards through the National Institute of Standards and Technology and an International Atomic Energy Agency consultant in the field of radiation crosslinked shape memory polymers. He graduated high school valedictorian and was recruited to UT Dallas through the Eugene McDermott Scholars Program. As a McDermott Scholar, Voit worked at Los Alamos National Labs and at Dallas nanotechnology startup company Zyvex. He received a B.S. in Computer Science and a Masters in Artificial Intelligence from UT Dallas. Dr. Voit's Master's thesis work was conducted under the mentorship of Prof. I. Hal Sudborough, where their team helped improve the upper bound of the pancake problem which has not been beaten since (Bill) Gates and Papadimitriou published on the subject in 1979. Dr. Voit was named a Presidential Scholar at Georgia Tech and was selected to the prestigious TI:GER program, a partnership with the College of Management and Emory Law School.

Kial Gramley

Mr. Gramley manages the sales, marketing and product management initiatives of the company. He has a successful track record of technology stewardship, including co-founding a nanotechnology startup, raising capital and scaling to industrial level production, leading to an acquisition by a multibillion-dollar global segment leader. Prior to working at Adaptive3D, he was a Director of Product and Business Development at Clarcor Industrial Air as well as the VP of Marketing and Business Development at FibeRio Technology Corporation. Mr. Gramley also worked in university technology transfer and served as a paratrooper in the United States Army. He holds a Bachelor's in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin and earned his MBA at the University of Texas Pan-American. We are proud to have him leading the sales and marketing of our 3D printing experts.

Mr. Dhruv Narayanan - VP

Mr. Dhruv Narayanan is Vice President for Software where he leads the Software AI division in devising cloud-based algorithms to topologically optimize 3D geometries and the Center of Design Excellence (CODEX) engineers that specialize in elastomeric materials modeling of 3D lattice structures. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas, with concentrations in networking, graph theory, and network-driven modeling of mechanical systems. Prior to joining Adaptive, Mr. Narayanan was a Senior Consultant for Oliver Wyman, a leading global management consulting firm, working in their Digital Practice. There, he built network optimization models and deployed strategic network redesigns for a major U.S.-based Airline seeking to decrease costs during irregular operations due to weather or tarmac delays. He also validated and deployed route optimizers for a major waste disposal company serving the New England area. Additionally, he worked on a multi-billion-dollar remediation program for a major financial institution, implementing Big Data management protocols and leveraging cloud-backed high-performance compute clusters to ensure that the disbursements were paid accurately and in a timely manner.

Mr. Ellery Buchanan - Chief Strategy Officer

Mr. Ellery Buchanan serves as Chief Strategy Officer. He assisted Dr. Voit in building Adaptive3D, serving as the Chairman of the Board prior to the sale of Adaptive 3D to Desktop Metal. Mr. Buchanan is an accomplished entrepreneur and senior executive with more than 40 years of experience in strategic and executive management positions. Mr. Buchanan founded FiberRio Technology Corporation in 2009 in McAllen, Texas, a nanofiber technology company, where he served as CEO, President and Chairman, before the sale of the company in April 2016 to Parker-Hannifin Corp. Mr. Buchanan was with RenewData Corporation from 2004 through 2008, serving as the CEO and CFO of this data archiving and electronic discovery firm. He was also the founder, Chairman, CEO, and President of Integrated Solutions, Inc. (ISI), a semiconductor equipment and services company in Andover, Massachusetts, where he was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year for High Technology Manufacturing. He began his career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse & Company in Stamford, Connecticut and subsequently served as the Senior International Finance Manager for Polaroid Corporation in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Buchanan received a BA degree from Gettysburg College and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Graduate Division.

Mr. Roger Lipton

Mr. Roger Lipton is the Vice President of Business Development. His career has been focused on advancing innovative, paradigm shifting technologies. Mr. Lipton holds a B.S. Degree in Marketing from the University of Hartford and a degree in international business from Nijenrode Business Universiteit, The Netherlands. He was recently the Chief Marketing Officer for start-up FibeRio Technology Corporation, a venture backed nanofiber technology start-up acquired by Clarcor Inc., now owned by Parker-Hannifin (PH: NYSE) where he was engaged in strategic business development. Other company engagements include ORATEC Interventions (OTEC; NASDAQ), acquired by Smith & Nephew), Orthofix (OFIX; NASDAQ) and MedMax. He is the past President, CEO and co-founder of Calcitec, Inc., a venture-backed biomaterials company specializing in nano-structured tissue scaffolds developed for use in the spine and general orthopedics market.

Stephen Kay - COO

Mr. Kay is the Chief Operating Officer of Adaptive3D and an integral part of our team of 3D printing experts. He is responsible for the development of the organization as a world-class supplier of Additive Manufacturing materials. Prior to joining Adaptive3D, Mr. Kay served as President & COO for FibeRio Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of nanofiber-based materials and fiber spinning equipment. Stephen served as Division President, Vice President and General Manager for multiple nanotechnology and semiconductor equipment manufacturing companies, and successfully and profitably developed and brought numerous semiconductor, nanotechnology and advanced packaging products to market.
