Since graduating from the University of Sydney in 1985, Dr. Phillip Stein has developed a great interest in a number of branches of dentistry. The first step he took into further specialization was his Diploma of Oral Implants at his alma mater in 1996. Years later, Dr. Stein developed a passion for orthodontics, taking on advanced studies in occlusion, cosmetic dental aesthetics, bite repositioning, and facial pain relief at the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies in Nevada. As the position of the tongue has a great impact on the bite, Dr. Stein found it essential to also complete a laser tongue-tie (frenectomy) surgical course, which he attended in Brisbane last year. Aside from his vast experience and training, Dr. Stein is known for his caring and gentle approach to his patients. He believes strongly in listening to his patients and working with them to create the right treatment plan for their oral health.

Phillip P. Shipp

Dr. Phillip Shipp has been providing quality dental care to families in the Nashville area and surrounding communities for over 25 years. Dr. Shipp received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry, and his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mississippi. Dr. Shipp is committed to furthering his education beyond his formal academic training. Dr. Shipp is a proud alumnus of The Dawson Academy and utilizes the extensive training and insight he received to deliver complete dentistry techniques to all his patients at Belle Meade Smile Center. The Dawson Academy is a post-graduate educational program devoted to coaching, supporting, and encouraging dental professionals to become masters of complete dentistry. The curriculum is designed to primarily focus on dental occlusion, temporomandibular joints, and comprehensive esthetic restorative dentistry. An education from the Dawson Academy ensures that a dentist is able to provide optimal diagnosis through treatment planning and quality patient care. Following extensive education, training, and successful exam completion, Dr. Shipp is now one of only a few dentists to obtain the esteemed Level II certification, Fellowship Center for Neural Occlusion (FCNO). Neural Occlusion is an objective screening protocol using numerous computerized measurement tools to help determine if the timing in a patient's dynamic bite movements (which can cause chewing muscles to become hyperactive and painful) are at least partly responsible for TMD problems. These conditions include headaches, jaw fatigue, trouble chewing, broken and worn teeth, hypersensitive teeth, and other issues within the head and neck region due to potentially overactive chewing muscles. Using the knowledge and techniques obtained during his CNO training, Dr. Shipp has successfully treated many patients who suffer from headaches, migraines, TMD, tinnitus, or vertigo.
