Under Rules and Regulations of NSC, Rule 15 mandates NSC to promote the establishment of State Chapters to help supplement it's efforts of promoting safety awareness in every part of the country. Accordingly, NSC has been promoting State Chapters. In this direction, North Zone Chapter was established at Chandigarh covering the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and U.T. of Chandigarh, on 2 September, 1997. It was 13 th chapter of NSC at that time. Presently, there are 18 Chapters.
