After graduating from Hofstra University School of Law in 1993, Mr. Sattler began his legal career at a small, high-volume law firm in downtown Hempstead, Long Island. Immediately, he was responsible for defending clients charged with various crimes, handling bankruptcy and immigration cases and representing clients in divorce and family court proceedings. In 1995 he moved his practice to New York City and became associated with Tellerman, Paticoff & Greenberg which soon thereafter became Dienst & Serrins, LLP. The firm was general counsel to many law enforcement unions including the New York City Detectives' Endowment Association, Lieutenants' Benevolent Association, Correction Officers' Benevolent Association as well as members of Transport Workers Union and also handles both plaintiff and defense personal injury cases. He also handled administrative and disciplinary matters at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) for members of the Correction Officers' Benevolent Association (COBA). The practice often took him to police precincts and court houses at all hours of the day and night, where he was known for always zealously representing the members of service charged with crimes and offering important strategic advice. After a short time, Mr. Sattler was asked to manage the firm's matrimonial law department consisting of 3 attorneys and 2 paralegals. As the youngest Department Head at the firm, Mr. Sattler was responsible for ensuring that all union members received superior representation and counsel in their divorce, child support and other family court matters. He was also asked by the COBA union president at the time to represent him on Governor Pataki's Domestic Violence Task Force. In 1998 Mr. Sattler joined forces with his law school friend and colleague, Alberto Ebanks and started EBANKS & SATTLER LLP. For the next 17 years Mr. Sattler was responsible for managing the personal injury lawsuits, handling the divorce and family law matters, representing the firm's entertainment and sports clients in their civil matters and offering counsel on all of the trust and estate cases. In 2015, Mr. Sattler and Mr. Ebanks amicably decided to split-up the practice and SATTLER LAW GROUP PC was born.
