Dr. Le Ba Thang

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu

Nguyen Thi Thu has nearly 35 years of experience in development, agriculture, and environmental issues in Vietnam. She is currently Deputy Director at CED and focuses on agriculture, rural development and disaster risk management. Before joining CED, Ms. Thu worked for nearly 20 years as a Trainer with the Agriculture Extension and Rural Development Faculty, which is part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's College for Management Training in Agriculture and Rural Development. She led this department between 1995 and 2000 and taught modules in a number of subjects related to agricultural extension and community development. Prior to joining the Agriculture Extension and Rural Development Faculty, Ms. Thu taught agricultural cultivation systems at Agriculture University No 2 Vietnam. She holds a Ph.D. in Agriculture from the National Agricultural - Scientific Institute of Vietnam (1994) and a B.A. in Agriculture from the Extension Faculty of Agricultural University No 2, Vietnam, 1976.

Dr. Tran Thi Le Thu

Tran Thi Le Thu has close to 18 years of experience in education and psychology, with a particular wealth of knowledge around serving children with disabilities. She is currently the Head of Applied Psychology Section in the Department of Psychology and Education at the Hanoi National University of Education. She has also taught educational psychology and trained teachers in special education at Hue University of Education, Old Dominion University (United States), Hanoi University of Culture, and via other training programs throughout Vietnam. Outside of her work in academia, Dr. Thu has provided psychological consultation services for parents of disabled children as well as Koto International, Nguyen Tat Thanh Junior and Senior High School, and Hanoi University of Education. She specializes in education for disabled children and has worked as a collaborator in many counselling centers, schools, and other organizations who work with this vulnerable group in society. Dr. Thu a holds a PhD in Psychology from the Institute of Psychology at Hanoi University of Education (2005), a Masters in Psychology from the Hanoi University of Education (2001), a Bachelor's degree in Special Education for Developmentally Delayed Children from the Hanoi University of Education (2001), a Bachelor's degree in English from Hanoi National University (1996), and a Bachelor's degree in Educational Psychology from the Hanoi University of Education (1994).

Mr. Edward Goff

Job Titles:

Edward Goff has been volunteering his time to CED since 2017. He assists with editing and copywriting and has been involved with the copy editing of proposals, newsletters, external and internal communications, as well as website content. He remains actively involved in meeting the content needs of CED. Edward has previously worked in the media industry as a science and technology journalist and has also worked in marketing and corporate communications. He has also volunteered as an English teacher at Văn Lang School, Ha Long, before teaching science and mathematics at Đoàn Thị Điểm School in Hanoi. Edward has a B.Soc.Sci from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and a B.PHIL Honours in Journalism from the University of Stellenbosch.

Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh

Hoang Quoc Khanh has several years of experience in Information Technology. He advises CED on projects involving the application of Information and Communication Technology for development and education. Mr. Khanh has worked for many years as a technician for the International Training Institute for Materials Science (ITIMS) and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). His work there has included the operation and maintenance of scientific equipment for teaching and research purposes, in addition to participating in research on nanomagnetic thin films, spin physics, and spintronics technology. He holds a B.A in Information Technology Engineering from Dong Do University (2000).

Mr. Nguyen Dien

Mr. Nguyen Dien has over 30 years of experiences within research and training for business firms. From 1980 - 1993, he worked for the Planning Committee (now the Department of Planning and Investment) in Daklak Province, and since 1993, he has worked as the Deputy Director of the VCCI's Da Nang branch. Here he is in charge of managing and facilitating branch's businesses, policy and business environment studies and teaching business administration. He is currently a senior trainer in various topics for businesses and is an active member of The Start & Improve Your Business (SIYB) program by the International Labour Organization. In addition, he has bachelor degrees from Da Nang University of Technology and Hanoi Foreign Trade University, and a MBA from Da Nang University of Economics.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh

Mr. Thanh joined CED in August 2014 right after college. At CED, he specializes in designing, analyzing and conducting activities related to environmental science, education, and communication. With a huge passion for information technology, he is involved in managing project websites, coordinating with CED's IT service providers and providing in-house IT support for CED's offices as needed. He also is an amateur photographer and designer, and conducts media activities for projects at CED. In addition to this, he is responsible for analyzing data for project reports and publications. In the last few years he has worked on these areas in the following projects: Microsoft YouthSpark, Voluntary Partnership Agreement on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (VPA/FLEGT), Promoting private sector engagement in the VPA process, Developing a Sustainable Civil Society Sector in Vietnam, Strengthening public-private partnerships for disaster risk management and community resilience in Vietnam (DRM), The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE), and Learning Across Borders (LAB). As part of the GLOBE project, he was a trainer in the Globe Observer Mosquito Habitat Mapper software. Mr. Thanh holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Hanoi University of Agriculture, is a fast learner and is eager to acquire knowledge related to the environmental sector.

Mr. Vu Anh Minh

Mr. Vu Anh Minh has nearly 20 years of experience in communications, education and information technology. He is currently the Deputy Director of CED, where he leads the design and implementation of projects and initiatives relating to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for development and education. Mr. Minh has worked as an Information Technician on a number of projects in education and development such as strengthening public-private partnerships for disaster risk management and community resilience in Vietnam, and the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT). He holds a M.Sc. in Telecommunication from Hanoi National University (2000), and a Bachelor's in Telecommunication, also from Hanoi National University (1992).

Ms. Duong Thi To

Ms. Duong Thi To is a leader in the fields of development, governance, and environmental protection in Vietnam. Throughout her career, Ms. To has been active in environmental information management and promoting environmental awareness and action. She is currently the Director of the Centre for Environment and Community Development/Vietnam Association for Nature and Environment Protection, where she leads a number of projects to build capacity in, and raise awareness of, environmental protection and sustainable development in Vietnam. Prior to her current position, Ms. To served as the Director of the Centre for Environmental Consulting, Training and Technology Transfer (CECT) under the Vietnam Environmental Protection Agency (VEPA), and before that was the Director of the Networking and Environmental Information System Division under the National Environment Agency. She has also held positions in the National Centre for Scientific and Technology Information and Documentation, promoting information exchange and technology transfer in Vietnam. Ms. To has built her expertise through leading and consulting on a variety of projects for public and private organizations and agencies on issues such as disaster risk management, water quality management, eco-tourism development, biodiversity protection, community-based environmental management, environmental health, forestry policy, solid waste management, environmental information management, and wildlife trafficking. She holds an Engineering Degree from the Tashkent Government University's Faculty of Geology (1976).

Ms. Ha Thi Thuong

Ms. Le Thi Huong Lien

Le Thi Huong Lien has worked for several years in communications and public relations. As a Communications Officer for the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Country Office in Hanoi, she managed a wide range of activities in communication and media relations, from press conferences and print campaigns to maintaining ILO's online presence. She has also worked as an Assistant to the Directorate of ILO, where she managed administrative issues and organized study tours, fellowships, workshops, and book displays. Prior to joining ILO, she worked in project management and public relations as the Public Relations Coordinator and Secretary to the Team Leader for the Song Da Social Forestry Development Project. At present, Ms. Huong Lien is pursuing a Master's Degree in Communication and Media Studies in Melbourne, Australia. She volunteers with CED to assist with the development of public relations materials. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the School of Economics, Hanoi National University (1999).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Chi

Nguyen Thi Chi has more than 15 years of experience in education research. She is currently a researcher at the Research Center for Educational Technology, Vietnam Institute of Educational Science (VNIES). She also worked as a researcher in the Research Centre for Educational Technology at the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences. Ms Thi Chi has also actively participated in projects for primary students on the importance of environmental protection. She holds a MA in Environmental Science from Hanoi National University (2007) and a BA in Environmental Science from Hanoi National University (2003).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong

Ms Huong is a Program Manager at CED. She has managed, coordinated and implemented numerous activities and projects in the fields of development and supporting private sector participation, including: Strengthening public-private partnerships for disaster risk management and community resilience in Vietnam, Voluntary Partnership Agreement on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (VPA/FLEGT), Promoting private sector engagement in the VPA process and Developing a Sustainable Civil Society Sector in Vietnam, among others. In addition to this, Ms. Huong has managed, coordinated and implemented a number of activities and projects in the field of education, such as: Enhance the role of Community Learning Centers in Hanoi, Can Tho and An Giang, Civic Education for Youth Program (CEYP), Human Energy Scholarship Ms. Huong previously served as a Program Assistant at the Center for Environment and Community Development, where she worked environmental management, environmental health and community involvement. Ms. Huong has also worked as an English teacher and a secretary. She holds a Bachelor's in Foreign Trade from the Hanoi Foreign Trade University (2007), and a Bachelor's in English Teaching from the College of Foreign Languages, Hanoi National University (2001).

Ms. Pham Thi Hai Yen

Ms. Pham Thi Hai Yen has worked for CED from 2012. Ms. Yen is currently working at CED's branch in Nha Trang as a Program Coordinator - Central Region. In addition to developing programs in the central region, Ms Yen is responsible for coordinating CED's in-house communication activities and liaising with media companies and outlets to ensure the successful implementation of communication and outreach activities. She has participated in research design, needs assessments, and communication activities related to Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT). In addition, Ms. Yen is also involved in designing and implementing innovative, hands-on educational programs and activities for students and schools in Vietnam. Previously, Ms Yen worked on environmental education projects with the Vietnam Institute of Education Science's Center for Education Technology, and taught environmental studies at the Hanoi College of Natural Resources and the Environment. She holds an Engineering degree in Environmental Technology (2008) and a M.A in Environmental Management (2013) from the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Technology.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong Minh

Ms Tran Thi Hong Minh is an Account Manager at CED. In coordination with program staff, Ms. Minh is responsible for maintaining accounts payable and receivable for all projects implemented at CED. She is also trains and supports CED's grantees and partners to ensure that all the financial requirements are met and are compliant with donors', CED's and/or Vietnamese governmental standards. She also supports program staff in developing and managing project budgets to ensure that they are implemented in a cost-effective way, and produces annual financial reports for CED. Ms. Minh's has coordinated the financial reports for many of CED's scholarship projects, including: The Merali Scholarship Program, The Teillon-Ludlow Scholarship Program, The Microsoft YouthSpark scholarship program, The Asia Foundation Scholarship, together with other projects in the field of education. These include Enhancing the role of Community Learning Centers in Hanoi, Can Tho and An Giang, Civic Education for Youth Program (CEYP), and the Human Energy Scholarship. Her previous experience includes accounting work with Constrexim Mechanical Construction and Commercial Investment JSC and Thanh Thang Manufacturing & Trading Co. Ltd. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting from Thang Long University (2007).

Ms. Vu Thi Hang

Vu Thi Hang more than 15 years of experience working in the fields of environment and education. She is currently a lecturer at the Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE), where she teaches Physical Geography. Outside of her university work, she has consulted on a number of projects related to environmental education in Vietnam. She served as a Local Expert on Environmental Education and Public Relations with JICA's Ha Long Bay Environmental Protection Project, and as a Project Advisor on environmental protection and safe migration education for The Asia Foundation. In addition to this, she has also trained teachers on outdoor environmental education activities in Ha Long Bay with the Flora and Fauna International's Eco-boat project, as a Researcher on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) at the HNUE Center for Research and Promotion of ESD, and as a Project Adviser for Training on Environmental Education with UNDP and the Ministry of Education and Training. She draws on this depth of experience in her work advising CED on environmental education initiatives. Ms. Hang holds a Masters in Physical Geography from the Hanoi National University of Education (2001) and a Bachelor's degree in Geography, also from the Hanoi National University of Education (1998).

Truong Xuan Canh

Truong Xuan Canh has more than 10 years of experience in educational research. He is currently the Deputy Director of Research at the Vietnam Institute of Educational Science's (VNIES) Research Center for Educational Technology, where he leads research projects in primary and secondary education. He has worked as a researcher for the Ministry of Education and Training's Research Centre for Educational Technology, working in both Secondary Education Research and the Environmental Research Department. Furthermore, he has also worked as a researcher in High School Educational Technology Research at the Vietnam Institute of Educational Science's Research Centre for Educational Technology. He holds a MA in Ecology from Hanoi University of Education (2006) and a BA in Teaching Biology from Hanoi University of Education (2003).
