Bhen Reed

Job Titles:

Bhen is a licensed architect in his eighth year of professional practice. He received his degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He also studied abroad at Alvar Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland and committed an additional mini-term to touring and documenting Architecture throughout Central Europe. His studies and travels allowed him to develop a much greater sensitivity to orientation and the human experience. He considers the opportunity to contribute to our built environment to be a tremendous privilege and he is dedicated to achieving the best design solutions possible in his work.

Brian Porter

Brian had a varied career before joining CWS in September 2019. Brian's interest in architecture began while studying civil engineering where he grew an appreciation for design. From there, he spent time working in building construction, engineering, and cabinetmaking. As a skilled woodworker, he specialized in fabricating high-end cabinets and millwork. Brian has earned his Associates of Science degree in both Architectural Drafting and Design and Building Construction from Southern Maine Community College. Brian's diverse background in construction and detailing make him an invaluable part of the CWS team. After work, Brian enjoys making music, woodworking, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Brittany Bona

Brittany has always enjoyed being creative and knew she wanted to pursue a career in the design field from a young age, as her mother was a fashion designer and encouraged her creativity. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island and her Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver. Brittany enjoys being part of a team, which she credits to playing sports all her life, including collegiate volleyball at both universities she attended. Her career started with small residential and commercial projects in Maine. When she moved to Colorado to pursue her Masters Degree, she worked with a number of Denver-based, large-scale architecture and engineering firms. These projects included work in the K-12 education and government industries. After 5 years out west, she returned to Maine to be closer to family, and for the opportunity to work on projects near the community she grew up in. In her free time, Brittany likes to remain active and outdoors, with skiing and hiking being her favorite hobbies. She also enjoys playing volleyball, painting, and spending time with her family, friends, and miniature dachshund, Holly.

Chris McDonald

Chris has over 35 years of experience with architectural and structural drafting. Throughout his professional career, he has contributed to the design of a great number of projects in various industries, including retail, corporate offices, educational, medical and military facilities, among others. Chris is skilled at implementing construction document quality control protocols, developing CADD standard project setups for REVIT, and also proficient in project coordination, shop drawing and handling RFI's. Chris is a graduate of Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute (NMVTI) at Northern Maine Community College (NMCC) where he earned an Applied Technologies Associates Degree, majoring in drafting technology.

Dylan Lawton

Dylan received his Bachelors of Science in Architecture with a Minor in Construction Management from Roger Williams University in 2017. Shortly after graduation, Dylan packed up and moved to Portland, Maine to start his professional career in architecture. He has worked on various project types including healthcare, retail, and multi-family housing. After purchasing a 200-year-old piece of history, you can find Dylan and his husband tackling non-stop house projects to bring their home back to life. Besides house projects, Dylan enjoys creating in his pottery studio or relaxing by the lake with friends, family, and two dogs, Leo and Edie.

Emily Strong

Emily joined the CWS team summer 2023. After graduating from the University of Central Oklahoma with her BFA in Interior Design and a minor in Art History, she worked for commercial architectural firms in Oklahoma prior to moving to Maine. Her experience includes retail, education, and Native American work. She has a passion for the details in space planning and material selection. She designs with intention and making sure every detail to a project serves a purpose no matter the scale of a project. Outside of the office she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, gardening, baking, crafting and spending time with her husband Chris and their dogs Tobie and Kovu.

Emma Hyson

George Lavigne - VP

Job Titles:

George has been with CWS for over two decades. He has extensive experience in all facets of residential-life design including senior and family apartments, group homes and assisted living communities. In addition to ground-up new construction, George's practice has substantially focused on adaptive re-use and historic preservation. To this end, George's projects have been awarded numerous local, regional and national housing industry and historic preservation awards. George earned his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Architecture from the Montana State University College of Architecture. He is a Licensed Architect in Maine and New Hampshire; and a certificate holder of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

Guy Labrecque - VP

Guy has been working in the architectural industry since the early 1990's and joined CWS in 1998. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in a variety of different project types, allowing him to develop a diverse understanding of each individual project's needs. He is commonly engaged in our Healthcare, Commercial, Retail, and Industrial/Manufacturing sectors. His projects range from small scale renovations to large, complex projects with construction budgets over 100-million dollars. With every project, Guy focuses on his client's needs and commits to spending his client's dollars where they will see their best return. As a resident of Gorham, Guy has served on several town building committees and is a former member of the Gorham Board of Appeals. Guy is also an Adjunct Professor at Southern Maine Community College; sharing his understanding of the technical nature of the industry with aspiring architects.

Keegan Carmichael

Keegan has been with CWS since early 2021. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the Boston Architectural College and started his career in Boston working on a multitude of project types including higher education, civic, healthcare and senior living. Keegan is a Maine licensed architect, NCARB certified, LEED AP and a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC).

Lauren Goodwin

Lauren earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology. She joined CWS in June 2018 after working throughout the New England area in high-end residential architecture, sustainability coordination for LEED certified projects, and commercial buildings. As a drafter, Lauren works in conjunction with fellow architects and interior designers to provide the best design solutions for our clients. Outside of the office, Lauren and her husband enjoy spending time with their 2 dogs and hitting the slopes in the winter. She also has a passion for dance and aerial silks.

Lynn Ann Pepin

Lynn joined CWS Architects in 2015 as Director of Interior Design and in 2019 became a Vice President. Through her career she has developed knowledge of various market sectors with a primary concentration in corporate and senior living communities. She focuses on developing client relationships through understanding their organization's culture, values and principles. Lynn transforms built environments with her inspired creativity and thoughtful selections of surface materials and finishes. Lynn creates unparalleled interiors by integrating furnishings, fixtures, artwork, interior way findings and custom graphics. Outside of work, Lynn is a dedicated soccer mom who on most weekends can be found on the sidelines cheering on her daughter. She also enjoys spending time relaxing at her family camp and kayaking across the lake.

Melisa Sehic

Melisa joined CWS in July 2023. Born and raised in New Hampshire, she moved to Maine in 2018 to earn her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Maine at Augusta. While in the program, she has been involved in many community design projects for Central Maine, and gained field experience in residential, commercial, and retail design. After finishing her degree, Melisa has decided to remain in Maine to pursue architecture professionally and stay involved in her community. In her free time, she enjoys tennis, creating art, and playing music.

Melissa Denis - CFO

Melissa has more than 25 years experience in the field of Accounting and Business Management. She has been with CWS for over a decade. In addition to her work with CWS, Melissa puts her accounting expertise to use as the Treasurer for the Special Surfers organization. She also owns and operates a small business that produces a line of pepper jellies, organic spice mixes, and barbecue rubs. In her free time, Melissa enjoys gardening and traveling. During the summer, she loves spending time at the beach. She has two sons, Cameron and Keagan, and a dog named Riley.

Olivia Dean

Olivia joined the CWS team in winter 2022. She grew up and attended college in New Hampshire, graduating in 2016 from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in Communications. In 2019 she made the move to Maine, wanting to make a change but still stay true to her New England roots. With over six years of experience spent happily immersed in her field, Olivia is a passionate creative who believes in the power of marketing to create an exceptional customer experience. In her spare time Olivia enjoys running and hiking with her dog Ava. She also loves to travel, finding new places to explore the outdoors and of course eat some great food along the way.

Rebecca Ames

Rebecca joined CWS in 2010 and has more than 20 years of experience in the Interior Design field. She has worked on projects ranging from historic preservation to residential life design (family and senior housing). Her portfolio includes commercial interiors, assisted living and nursing care facilities, financial institutions and medical office buildings. She specializes in the design detailing of all facets of interior design, including furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) management. Reba earned her Bachelor of Interior Design degree from the Boston Architectural College in Massachusetts. She is an active member with the Maine Interior Design Association and is a Board Commissioner on the Sanford Housing Authority. Outside of the office, Reba has participated in Maine Cancer Foundation's Tri for a Cure event every year since 2018 and enjoys the biking and swimming aspects of the training. She also enjoys sewing and baking.
