Sue set up a carers support group for families living with a rare dementia in 2017. This regional group is affiliated to Rare Dementia Support (RDS), a world-leading UK-based service provided by the UCL Dementia Research Centre (DRC) funded by The National Brain Appeal. She was a committee member on the recently published NICE Guideline for Supporting adult carers [NG150] and is currently working with the NICE Quality Standards Advisory Committee for this guideline. Sue has worked as a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission since 2013, supporting the Commission's regulatory activity in adult social care services for people with living dementia. I have six years' nursing experience working with both adults and paediatrics of all ages with a range of complex physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs, predominantly within a community setting in the private sector. I have worked at a brain injury unit, rehabilitating adults with acquired brain injuries, stroke and mental health conditions. My previous experience has given me the ability to work with a wide age range from children to elderly, with a broad range of clinical needs. I joined Prestige in January 2020 as Regional Nurse for the East Region, where I have clinical responsibility for adult and paediatric complex healthcare needs. I also deliver team training and clinical competency assessments, completions of clinical care plans, risk assessments, auditing and liaising with professionals and families. I taught Research Skills and Evidence Base Practice, in addition to leading the Specialist Practitioner Programme for nurses providing care and support to older people. I became involved in teaching both clinical skills and manual handling. I have now taught manual handling for 40 years and I am a member of the National Back Exchange. I am currently studying for a Master in Ergonomics and Human Factors (Community and Hospital Care). I joined Prestige Nursing & Care in 2011, as a Registered Nurse in Liverpool and then later becoming the trainer for the North Region.
