The textile industry grew a lot during the industrial revolution. The textile industry developed first in Great Britain and spread out through Europe. One of the reasons Great Britain was the first country to expand the textile industry was that great Britain had many natural resources such as coal and iron. Britain also was very wealthy and had a great deal of capital. During the industrial revolution the textile industry grew because the demand for cloth grew. Merchants had to compete with others for the right supplies to make the cloths. As the demand for cloth kept going up the prices also kept on going up.
