Our purpose is to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health through an understanding and utilization of the function and procedures of physical medicine and rehabilitation... The Texas Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Society was founded in 1989 to serve the physiatrists of the state. To be a voice for Texas physiatrists to further them in serving their patients in the state of Texas. We are a 501 3(c) organization that promotes education and research to further advance the specialty of PMR. We also represent the members with a seat on the Medicare Contractor Advisory Committee which develops the Local Coverage determinations... We represent the interest of our members and their patients who develop temporary or permanent impairments or disabilities.
