Jo Tincello

Job Titles:

Jo has worked for Coleg Cambria for 9 years in various management roles. She brings a wealth of project management experience aimed at enhancing the curriculum offer for school and college learners, as well as managing the college's Traineeship Programme designed to support disengaged learners into education and employment.

John Clutton

Job Titles:
  • Director
John is the chair of one of the Coleg Cambria Board's committee, namely the Leadership, Performance and Improvement Committee, and is also a member of the HR, Finance and Estates Committee. He is the Link Governor for leadership at the College.

John Thornhill

Job Titles:

John has extensive experience in the private sector, including managing at Chief Executive level. Prior to becoming Chief Executive of the Group, John worked at BT for 24 years in a variety of roles. For the last two years, John has been very active in the education sector in the North West and nationally and was previously a non-exec board member of Manchester Metropolitan University. John's role encompasses all of the organisations within the Group including Novus, The Manchester College, MOL and Total People Ltd.

Mairi-Anne McLeod

Mairi-Anne has over 20 years' experience working in a custodial environment. She has worked as the head of several education departments within prison settings and is passionate about the impact quality education has on the lives of those in custody. Mairi-Anne is committed to ensuring the education offer supports the rehabilitation of men and that every opportunity to enhance learning is embedded throughout the prison.

Malcolm Sugden

  • Director
Malcolm is a chartered management accountant. He has operated at a senior financial level within major North West businesses, including United Utilities and as Finance Director for Electricity North West. He is currently Deputy Chair of Stockport NHS Foundations Trust and a director of Electricity North West (ESPS) Pension Trustees Ltd. In addition, he has considerable experience as a governor in both the primary school and sixth form college sectors.

Peter Cox

Peter joined The Manchester College in 1994 and has held several senior positions within the organisation. With a background in business development and over 20 years' experience in the sector, Peter previously held the position of Vice Principal of offender learning and was promoted to Director of Commercial Development in 2013. In his current position as Managing Director of Novus he launched the new Novus organisation in 2016.

Steve Jackson

Steve has worked at Coleg Cambria, formerly Deeside College, since 1994. A key part of his role as Chief Operating Officer & Deputy Chief Executive for Coleg Cambria is the development of the College's estate and recent projects include the new Sixth Form Hub at Deeside and the University Centre.

Victoria Smith

Victoria joined Novus in April 2014 with over 15 years project and bid management experience. Her previous roles included leading and managing large scale projects for defence sector clients and charities. She has also led international programmes involving multidisciplinary teams within the legal, rail and construction industries. During her time with Novus, Victoria has worked in a project management capacity on various custody projects in the male, female and young people's estate.

Yana Williams - CEO

  • Chief Executive of Coleg Cambria in January 2020.
Yana Williams became Chief Executive of Coleg Cambria in January 2020. An alumnus of Cardiff Metropolitan University, her first teaching role was at Knowsley Community College in Liverpool. She later moved to Runshaw College in Lancashire before joining Deeside College in a management role, overseeing their curriculum. Yana then accepted a Vice Principal role at Blackburn College and most recently led the team at Hugh Baird in Liverpool, where she was CEO/Principal for eight years.
