CHIMNEY HILLS - Key Persons

Dr. Barbara Miller

Job Titles:

Like most people in veterinary medicine, I started in this field because I love animals, but I have continued because of my love for medicine. When I work with my patients, I try to do the best I can to help that animal, but I also try to get to know the person at the other end of the leash. There is a bond that is created by pets and their owners, and I do everything I can to try to celebrate that bond. I attended Texas A&M (Go Aggies!) for my undergraduate degree and received a Bachelors in Biomedical Science. From there I continued my education at Texas A&M in their veterinary school. After graduating, I worked at several practices in both Texas and Oklahoma. I found my home at Chimney Hills Animal Hospital in November of 1989. Since then, I have seen many wonderful changes and am so happy to be part of such a wonderful team. For me, pets are a part of our family. They constantly remind me of God's unconditional love for me. My husband and I have 2 wonderful children and a precious granddaughter. We also have an amazing yellow lab named Jessie. In addition to our dog, we have 3 horses. We have Emmy who is a Palomino Mare and her best friend a mini named Goldilocks. We also have a handsome, and crazy, paint gelding that we show named Ben. I live every day with the philosophy of doing what you love passionately and love what you do. I enjoy learning new things, new skills, and new ideas. I also love to travel and learn about new cultures, food, and music.

I love being in veterinary medicine because let's face it, what better job in the world is there? There is something new every day whether it is routine medical evaluations or harder to solve cases. The harder cases are like getting to solve a mystery, some of the clues are obvious and easy to detect while others are a lot vaguer and more difficult to find before getting to the final answer. My goal in veterinary medicine is to help every patient that I can in a way that best helps the family while improving everyone's quality of life. I attended Oklahoma State where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Biology and subsequently my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. I started working at Chimney Hill as the Medical Director in January of 2013. After helping to build the clinic up, put into place best medicine, and oversee a complete remodel adding on a luxury boarding facility, I purchased the practice at the beginning of 2019. As the owner, I try to make sure that we are practicing the most up-to-date medicine as well as best practices while making sure that my team is happy, our clients are happy, and we are providing the absolute best care possible for all our patients. For me, my pets are a part of my family. They get the same level of care that my kids do. They are happy to see me and they also throw fits like my kids do as well. My wife, Sarah, and I have two beautiful twin boys, and two boxers, Finnegan and Fiona. I am what one would call a techno-geek. I love all things technology and am always trying to find the best new app or gadget. And of course, I like to talk and share my knowledge with anyone willing to listen. I try to live by the philosophy that you should treat people the way you want to be treated.

Veterinary Medicine was the ideal field for me to combine my love of animals and my love of science. With every patient I see and every client I talk with, my goal is to help pets live longer, healthier, happier lives with the people who love them. To be able to alleviate suffering and improve the quality of life is the best you could give a pet and its owner. I attended Oklahoma State where I received a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science while also studying music I then continued with my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After working in a few different animal hospitals in the greater Tulsa area, I found myself at Chimney Hills in July of 2020. I believe that perseverance, not perfection is the key to success. For me, my pets are a constant source of love, entertainment, and mischief. My husband and I have 3 gorgeous daughters. We are owned by two cats, Francis the Sphynx, and Atticus the domestic shorthair.
