BALLINGER LAW - Key Persons

George Davies

Job Titles:
  • Consultant
  • Solicitor
George Davies has qualified as both a solicitor and a barrister, and has broad commercial litigation experience in both capacities. Prior to joining Ballinger Law, he worked as a solicitor with a large international law firm in the City of London, and also in-house in the Enforcement division of the Financial Services Authority. He also has an independent practice at the Bar (which he retains alongside his role at Ballinger Law), which involves a range of commercial and professional indemnity cases, acting both for and against insurers. George's skill set as both solicitor and barrister bring an additional dimension to Ballinger Law, and also enable the firm to offer advocacy services. George says: "Recent reforms of the legal professions have allowed barristers and solicitors to work much more flexibly and closely together. I think that this can only benefit the client as it avoids duplication and maintains consistency of client contact. Modern litigators need to be fleet of foot to keep up and Ballinger Law has developed the ideal structure to thrive and survive in this new world."

Helen Paramor

Job Titles:
  • Head
  • Head of Corporate & Commercial
Helen Paramor is our Head of Corporate & Commercial. Prior to joining Ballinger Law, Helen worked at GIC, one of the world's leading Sovereign Wealth Funds, as their sole London lawyer in their European Real Estate Investment team. Helen advised on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including transactional corporate work such as acquisitions & disposals, joint ventures and fund investments; and non-transactional corporate/commercial work. Prior to that, she was a Senior Associate at top international City law firm, Simmons & Simmons, in its Corporate & Commercial Department. Helen is very aware that clients want to achieve their business aims as effectively as possible - and that legal advice must be business-focussed and user-friendly, as well as being of the highest quality. Helen says: "At Ballinger Law, your project is not worked on by large teams of lawyers, with senior lawyers merely having oversight while the majority of the work is done by less-experienced juniors. Instead, I manage your project from inception to completion, ensuring my expertise is applied at every stage of your project."

Michael Ballinger

Job Titles:
  • Director
Having previously spent most of his career with large City firms, Michael founded Ballinger Law in order to pursue his passion for "David v Goliath" type litigation. He is a pioneer in the field of litigation funding, having successfully developed a CFA (Conditional Fee Agreement) scheme which enables claimants (particularly insolvency practitioners) to pursue litigation at no risk or upfront cost. His extensive knowledge of and contacts in the ATE (After The Event) insurance and litigation funding markets mean that he has an unrivalled ability to ensure that meritorious cases are not abandoned due to lack of funding. He is a specialist in commercial litigation, and has acted in a wide range of domestic and international commercial, financial and contractual disputes. A significant proportion of his practice involves professional indemnity claims, particularly against solicitors.
