Adam Baranowski

Adam is Climate Change Programme Lead at the BBP. Adam oversees the BBP Climate Commitment and the BBP's activities relating to market transformation, investment and lending covering topics including net zero carbon, climate resilience and GRESB. He is also responsible for overseeing the BBP's ESG Training Course for Real Estate Professionals. Adam moved to the BBP from UK sustainability consultancy Verco where he spent 8 years advising global real estate clients on their net zero and wider ESG strategies, as well as working with Governments and industry bodies including BEIS and the Investment Property Forum to deliver research on related topics. In previous roles Adam worked with renewables consultancy DNV-GL, food waste charity Foodcycle and renewable energy development charity The Converging World. Adam has a MSci in Physics with Industrial Experience from the University of Bristol.

Ailsa Shaylor

Ailsa and her team oversee all aspects of ESG and Sustainability for the Property Management department. This includes working with clients on a consultancy basis to develop and deliver portfolio and asset strategies as well integrating sustainability across every aspect of property management and its value chain. Key areas of focus include: energy management; net zero and energy optimisation; building certifications, ESG reporting; occupier engagement and social value. Ailsa has over 17 years experience in the FM sector and has spent the last 10 years within commercial property working with a range of investment, corporate and national infrastructure clients. Prior to moving into sustainability, Ailsa was Head of Health & Safety for BNP Paribas Real Estate and is a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health as well as the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management. Ailsa has a track record of driving organisational change and brings a risk-based approach towards influencing and embedding sustainability with the real estate sector.

Andrew Poynter

Andrew is an Associate within the Asset Services team at Cushman & Wakefield. As a qualified surveyor (MRICS), with 14 years of experience in the commercial property sector, Andrews sits within the Tailored Places Team, focused on property management of Central London Offices including landmark buildings. Andrew has assisted clients in implementing and improving their ESG credentials and continually challenges them to go further.

Andy Mercer

Andy is the Head of ESG (UK & EMEA) at Colliers International. He has 20+ years' experience in the non-domestic property sector and has specialised in building optimisation throughout his career. He holds degrees in building services engineering and business and has worked across both government and the private sector. Prior to joining Colliers, Andy was Head of Energy at JLL, and before that Director of Energy Services at CBRE. At Colliers, Andy is responsible for technical and commercial leadership across a broad range of ESG services that are designed to deliver positive environmental change while enhancing the long term value of real estate assets. Advice ranges from creating tangible ESG/NZC strategies and implementation plans at portfolio and asset-level, through to practical help optimising BMS and improving data quality.

Annika Buser

Annika is the Senior Programme Researcher at the BBP. Her role is to provide research support across the BBP's workstreams. In previous roles Annika worked as a research consultant with a particular focus on sustainable development. She has previously worked for an environmental consultancy, and in the charity sector with NGOs including WaterAid and Oxfam. Annika has a Master's degree in Environment and Development from King's College London.

Ashdown Phillips

Gary is a Senior Associate Director withing the Facilities Management team alongside his role as Head of Sustainability. His role involves guiding the organisations strategy on all things ESG related and chairing our Sustainability Committee. His experience is predominately based around property optimisation and driving cultural change. He has worked in the property industry for over 15 years for organisations including JLL, BNP Paribas and British Land. He has a wealth of experience across all phases of property life cycle from design, development to management and in use day to day management.

Carl Brooks

Carl has worked in the sustainability sector for 23 years with the last 16 years spent working in commercial real estate. He is currently a Senior Director at CBRE initially joining to lead the development and integration of sustainability as a core competence and service within the Property Management business, initially focused on the UK but now looking across the global business. Prior to joining CBRE Carl worked in leadership roles in sustainability at MAPP and at Hammerson working to establish principles of sustainability and environmental management into corporate and operational processes to better address the risks and leverage the opportunities presented by sustainability through all stages of the built environment lifecycle. Carl is an active voice in the industry occupying committee roles with both Revo and the BCO, has been involved with the Better Buildings Partnership since his time at Hammerson and chaired the Managing Agents Partnership from its inception in 2015 to 2022.

Federico Montella

Federico is a chartered engineer (CEng) with over 20 years of experience in the sustainability sector for the real estate. He joined Lambert Smith Hampton as head of ESG & Sustainability to lead the Company's sustainability and Net-Zero strategy as well as to develop integrated sustainability solutions in the property management sector and services for the Consult and Transact sectors of the Company. Prior to that, he led the first Sustainability programme at WeWork across 13 countries in EMEA, 9M sqft of real estate portfolio and a community of 100k members. He has worked with architects such as HLM and Sheppard Robson to lead award winning schemes across different sectors, including 2 CIBSE Building Performance Awards. Federico has been speaking at national and international conferences, such as the Urban Land Institute's European Sustainability Council Day and represents LSH at the MAP Better Buildings Partnership. Federico is a BREEAM AP, Certified Passivhaus Consultant, a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant and holds and MSc in Sustainable Environmental Design at the Architectural Association in London where he then taught as a professor for 5 years

Jonathan Hale

With over 14 years of ESG and Sustainability experience, Jonathan is the Head of ESG Consulting UK for the Energy, Sustainability and Natural Resources team at Knight Frank. This award winning team provide advisory services to clients in the fields of: property asset management, transactions, development, valuations, strategy, compliance, green building certification, utilities procurement and interacts with clients throughout each stage of the property lifecycle. Jonathan's engineering background and practitioner experience across multi-sector clients forms a strong foundation from which he advises on real estate clients on ESG strategy, non-financial reporting, net zero carbon, habitat restoration (including biodiversity), social value and energy & carbon related compliance. Broader team experience includes a board member role at the Imperial College Low Carbon Climate Innovation Centre and the team has also featured within the establishment of EIT Climate-KIC, the EU's main climate innovation funding agency, since 2012. Other universities supported cover TU Delft and TU Berlin.

Jonathan is Senior Sustainability Programme Manager at the BBP. He is responsible for overseeing the BBP's extensive programme of work. Jonathan has a wealth of experience in sustainability and real estate, spanning over a decade with Npower where he was responsible for their energy and sustainability programme across Npower's real estate portfolio. Jonathan holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Business from the University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership and is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).

Laura Noctor-King

Madeleine Velupillai

Madeleine and her team are responsible for delivery the Savills' Property Management division ESG Strategy and Green Charter. As part of her role she also liaises with clients to understand their ESG strategies and translates these into site practice and implementation. Whilst Madeleine's background and Masters qualification is in Sustainability, she spent 5 years working in property management and operations at Landsec, overseeing several estates and commercial office properties within their portfolio. As such, her experience leaves her well placed to advise on how sustainability works in practice. During this time she lead on implementation of WELL Portfolio Score and is also a UKGBC Future Leaders alumni. Prior to joining Landsec, Madeleine worked in the financial sector implementing Environmental Management Systems across a European real estate portfolio.

Munish Vaswani

With 10 years of experience in the sustainability sector, Munish has worked with investor clients and Asset Managers to embed sustainability risks and opportunities into their mainstream business strategy. With a wide project portfolio, Munish has a rich understanding of GRESB, Net-Zero alignment, Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting, CDP reporting and MEES regulations. Over the years, he has built key areas of expertise across compliance and legislation, statutory and voluntary reporting. Munish joined Avison Young in 2012. He holds an MBA in Strategic Carbon Management from the University of East Anglia and a Masters of Commerce from Mumbai University, India.

Oli Williams

Oli is an Associate Partner at Tandem and chairs the company's ESG Committee. Working alongside the Senior Partners, he is responsible for shaping Tandem's ESG strategy for both clients as well as their own initiatives to ensure it is embedded at all levels of the business. Oli is a qualified surveyor (MRICS) with over 12 years' experience, primarily in property and service charge management, acting on behalf of REITS, developers, occupiers and investment clients. He promotes practical and pragmatic, sustainable led solutions within Tandem's managed portfolio. Prior to joining Tandem in 2019, he spent 9 years at GVA where he was a Director and Regional Head of Property Management in Leeds.

Rob MacWhannell

Rob leads the Benchmarking & Measurement workstream at the BBP, and oversees the working groups associated with the Real Estate Environmental Benchmark (REEB) and NABERS UK. Rob has 15 years of experience working in-house on sustainability for Value Retail, BAE Systems, and Landsec. Rob has a PhD in carbon accounting & sustainability reporting, and a research masters focused on energy benchmarking for large commercial estates.

Rowan Packer

Rowan leads a skilled team of Sustainability consultants at MAPP. Their aim is to serve and manage a multi-use real estate portfolio worth more than £12bn in the UK. His team guides clients, owners and investors on their net-zero pathway from basic data and carbon management, through to building performance and with some leading clients he advises on long-term climate risk modelling and ESG investment criteria. Rowan has almost 15 years of extensive experience in sustainability ESG and energy management across a range of sectors in the UK and Europe, having worked with companies such as Sainsburys, Landsec, CLS Holdings, CBRE and Pfizer. During his career, Rowan has developed skills not only to deliver and guide major companies on their new-zero journey but believes strongly in empowering people around him to integrate sustainability into their jobs instead of it being a specialist area. One of his favourite quotes is "I am working hard to become unwanted!". Rowan's career goal in the climate change challenge is to make sustainability simple, mainstream and embedded into everything people do and therefore hopes to be unwanted as a specialist in the future.

Sarah Ratcliffe - CEO

Sarah is CEO of the BBP. Sarah has over 15 years experience advising many of the UK's leading property investors and developers on sustainability issues. As a founding Director of Upstream (acquired by JLL in 2007), she was instrumental in establishing some of the earliest sector sustainability benchmarks including the Property Environment Group, NextGeneration and The Third Dimension. As a European Director at JLL Sarah was responsible for leading the firm's sustainability consultancy in UK and Europe and sat on the Global Sustainability Board. In addition to various independent consultancy projects, Sarah is now a Board Director of the Sustainable Development Foundation.

Sophia Tysoe

Sophia is the BBP's Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager. Her role is to support the development and delivery of the BBP's work programme through knowledge sharing across a range of the BBP's activities, both internally and externally. Before joining the BBP Sophia worked for a fit out firm in London, delivering their Marketing and Communications outputs. Within this role she also sat on the Responsible Business Committee, where she worked to actively make the organisation a force for good through Environmental, Community and Wellbeing Initiatives. Sophia holds a BA major in Media and Communications, and a minor in Political Science from Regents University London.

Vicky Cotton - Chairman

Vicky is responsible for all aspects of ESG at Workman, from clients and their portfolios to the firm's own activities, and is also responsible for the management and implementation of various environmental strategies across the client portfolio, working closely with clients to review risk associated with these. Passionate about her profession and highly skilled, Vicky seeks opportunities at property and portfolio level to drive efficiencies, implement initiatives and ensure an embedded understanding of the processes and opportunities to achieve the set targets. This extends to overseeing training for on-site teams, Property Managers and Facilities Management teams to ensure a thorough understanding of processes, systems and legislative requirements. Having previously spent 14 years as a Property Manager prior to her current role, Vicky is able to take a pragmatic and commercial approach when advising on all ESG matters.
