David originally studied Architectural Technology at Hertfordshire College of Building before embarking on his architectural studies at London Metropolitan University. In the late 1990's David realised that the professional office would need to move away from the drawing board to CAD Workstations and completed a Masters Degree in Computer Aided Architectural Design (CAAD) at Duncan of Jordanston College of Art, part of Dundee University. David's architectural career started when he was still at school, working for MWT Architects in the school holidays. On leaving school he worked for the practice for nearly 10 years in the Bedford, London and Southampton offices. During that time he worked mainly on housing projects for national house builders and individual clients. He maintains that housing is a good introduction to both architecture and building. During this time, David assisted other design teams on projects such as a Sports Hotel in Cambridge and a major city centre redevelopment in Windsor. David went on to join a practice in Hertfordshire, running various projects from private house extensions to a major retail unit located in the centre of East Grinstead. After being involved with two very commercial orientated practices he decided to join the "design conscious practice" Francis Weal and Partners. Working in both the Romsey and London offices David soon became an Associate. The practice specialised in high quality housing schemes for the elderly and church work. David left the practice in the late 1980's to form his own practice David Haward Associates now based in Pembrokeshire. David is an active member of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales and is involved in direct representations to the Welsh Government on Architecture and Conservation. He is included in the local Planning Forum and meets regularly with planning officers of both Pembrokeshire County Council and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority. He has also acted as a local assessor for the RIBA Awards. In his spare time he enjoys generally keeping fit, particularly cycling and working on his small holding in the Preseli Hills. Robert studied Architectural Technology locally at Pembrokeshire college before moving to London in 2013 to gain experience in a wide range of projects, including Commercial, Industrial and Mixed Use developments.
