Cale Brubaker

Before his promotion to the full-time video coordinator role, Brubaker spent the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons as the program's graduate assistant, earning a master's in educational leadership. His duties included assisting with the planning and implementation of practices, recruiting efforts, and special projects from the coaching staff. During Brubaker's first season as video coordinator, the Roadrunners built off a 20-win season in 2017-18 to finish in second place in the C-USA standings with 11 wins. UTSA earned its highest tournament seed in 14 years while spurred by the dynamic guard play of sophomore sensations Jhivvan Jackson and Keaton Wallace, the nation's top-scoring backcourt. A native of New Braunfels, Texas, Brubaker graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, Kan., in May 2016 with a bachelor's degree in history. He was a four-year letterwinner (2012-16) for the Pioneers men's basketball program. He helped lead the squad to 91 wins, a pair of NAIA Fab Four appearances (2014, 2016), a Heart of America Conference regular-season title (2016), and a tournament title (2014). Brubaker shot 49 percent from three-point range as a junior to set an MNU single-season record and rank second nationally. His 3.97 assist/turnover ratio also ranked second in the nation as a senior, and he finished his career shooting 45 percent from behind the arc with a 2.75 assist/turnover ratio. Brubaker was named the Heart of America Player of the Week in December 2014 after posting 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals. He also was a two-time Academic All-American and graduated with a 3.6 GPA. Brubaker played his prep career at San Antonio Christian High School, where he was an all-state selection, and Lone Stars All-Area pick by the San Antonio Express-News as a senior. He helped lead the team to the Final Four that season.

On August 11, 2023 Kevin Steele named Chris Davis the new Assistant Athletic Director for Communications on OUAZ. Mr. Davis comes to OUAZ from Grossmont College. Over the course of two stays at GC, a community college in San Diego County, Chris worked in a variety of roles, including student assistant sports information director, baseball operations, game day manager, and eventually Sports Information Director for all 18 sports. At the University of San Diego, a private Catholic (NCAA Division I) university, Chris initially joined the football stats crew but quickly expanded his role to include working with men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's and women's basketball. He was also one of three baseball official scorers and the primary official scorer for softball. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management from CSU Bakersfield, which he earned in 2012. Prior to his academic pursuits, Chris gained valuable experience in the sports industry as a producer for the San Diego Chargers (NFL) during the 2005-06 seasons. Additionally, he served as the lead producer for the Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres, High A) on KTMQ-FM for the 2005 season. In his spare time, he likes to play golf and bowl. Chris is single and lives in Marley Park.

David Stockton

David Stockton was named the second head coach in the history of the OUAZ men's soccer program in April of 2022. Stockton was elevated to the head coach role after his third season with the program, including serving as the Associate Head Coach during the 2021 season. Stockton was promoted to Associate Head Coach in the fall of 2021 after two seasons as the lead assistant coach of the Spirit. During his time as an assistant at OUAZ, the Spirit recorded a 36-15-3 record with a run to the final site of the NAIA National Championship and No. 10 postseason ranking. Stockton came to OUAZ from the University of the Pacific, where he was an assistant coach with the Tigers from 2017-2019. During his time at Pacific, he was part of a coaching staff in which the Tigers compiled a 25-9-4 overall record in two seasons, reaching the second round of the NCAA tournament each year. Before that time at Pacific, Stockton spent six seasons as an assistant at California State University Monterey Bay. He helped coach the Otters to an 11-5-3 record in his third year, including four shutout victories and the program's first top 25 national ranking. Before CSU Monterey Bay, Stockton spent three seasons with Missouri State University. He was involved in all facets of the program on and off the field, specializing in developing the goalkeepers. In 2009, Missouri State captured the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championship and an NCAA tournament bid, marking the first time for the program in 10 years for both achievements. Stockton also worked with Missouri State's women's soccer program as the goalkeeper coach, helping the program finish in 2nd place in the MVC in 2009 and 2010. His coaching career began at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 2005, Stockton spent the season coaching the Mustang goalkeepers to a 13-3-2 record and served as a graduate assistant the next two years when Midwestern State went 36-5-4 over a two-year stretch and advanced to the NCAA DII national semifinals in 2007. Stockton enjoyed a four-year playing career in goal at Midwestern State, leading his team to the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals twice, as he and his teammates posted a 51-17-6 in four seasons. He was named All-Midwest Region first-team goalkeeper as a senior and earned the MWSU Soccer Alumni Award for Leadership and Integrity in 2004. Stockton played professionally in the Pacific Coast Soccer League and Premier Development League and was named to the PCSL All-Star team in 2004. He spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons with the DFW Tornados of the PDL. Stockton has earned his United States Soccer Federation "B" Coaching License and Masters of Arts in Leadership through Ottawa University. Stockton has been married to his wife, Shannon, since 2018, and they have a son, Zachary.

Ernesto Ortiz was named the head coach of the OUAZ softball program in July of 2021. In his first season at the helm, the Spirit finished with a 34-20 overall record to set the program record for wins in a season and single-season winning percentage (.630). The team finished third in the GSAC with a 13-11 conference mark and qualified for its second straight GSAC Tournament. Ortiz went on to coach the Spirit to a 25-24 finish in his second season with a 9-14 conference mark. Before taking over the program, Ortiz worked with the Grand Canyon University Softball program for two seasons under the direction of Ann Pierson. He assisted in the overall operation of the Performance Athletics Department at GCU and played a role in the speed, strength, and agility programs installed with the GCU softball program. In addition, Ortiz has worked as a coach with the GCU Camps and Clinics program since 2015. Ortiz began his coaching career in club softball, where he prepared and implemented practice, speed, and conditioning training plans for the team and handled individual and skill development. In his time with the OUAZ baseball program, Ortiz was also the recruiting coordinator and handled player development and performance. He played a role in the offensive and defensive strategies and helped develop two NCCAA All-Americans. With Ortiz on staff, the Spirit advanced to the NCCAA World Series. Before coming to OUAZ in 2017, Ortiz was the head baseball coach at Valley Vista High School, where he led the program to consecutive 20-win seasons and two trips to the Arizona 6A State Playoffs. He coached 14 players that went on to play college baseball. The owner and founder of Arizona Travel Ball, Ortiz oversees the organization's operations and is responsible for the athletes' development, training, and teaching. After playing spending two seasons at Gonzaga University, where he started 101 games at shortstop and collected 87 hits, Ortiz finished his collegiate career at Grand Canyon University. His time at GCU was highlighted by being named PacWest All-Conference in 2011 after batting .340 with 33 RBIs. Ortiz graduated from GCU with a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Health Education. He then earned a Master of Science in Leadership at GCU. Ortiz and his wife, Vanessa, reside in Glendale.

Greg Farrier was named the interim head coach of the OUAZ men's & women's water polo programs in the fall of 2022. Farrier took over the position after working as the assistant coach during the 2021-22 seasons. Before coming to OUAZ in 2021, Farrier had a long successful track record coaching water polo in California at both the club and high school ranks. Most recently, coaching for the Orange County and Triton Water Polo Clubs. During his club coaching career, Farrier guided his teams to multiple top-10 finishes at the USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics. He also worked as the head coach of the water polo programs at Woodbridge & Orange High Schools. Farrier has competed and trained at the NCAA, National, International, and Olympic Trials levels. He attended the University of Southern California, where he helped the Trojans qualify for the NCAA Tournament each season. While at USC, Farrier was the only dual aquatic rostered athlete participating both as a competitive swimmer and water polo player. During his career, he helped the swim team to three national runner-up finishes at the NCAA National Championship. A native of San Clemente, Calif., Farrier is a member of the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation and has recently completed an Ultra Marathon solo swim crossing of the Catalina Channel.

Bryan Carvalho enters his first year as the beach volleyball assistant coach at OUAZ in 2018. Bryan comes to Surprise after previously serving in a simlar capacity at Lee University in Tennessee as the assistant coach for the women's indoor volleyball team. Bryan joined Lee University with extensive experience in the volleyball coaching world, having served two seasons as the assistant coach at Azusa Pacific. His primary duties included recruiting and training with the Cougars. In 2013 he joined the Cal State Bakersfield program and helped lead the Roadrunners to within one victory of the NCAA Division I National Tournament with a berth in the Western Athletic Conference finals. Prior to working at Cal State Bakersfield he served as the head coach at Bethel Baptist High School and taught history, earth science and physical education. Carvalho resides in Surprise with his wife Haleigh, who serves as the head coach for the beach volleyball program. The couple has a beautiful young daughter, Kaia and newborn Owen.

Jack Craig joins the OUAZ women's soccer staff as an assistant coach and recruiter in the Spring of 2020. Coach Craig comes in with many years of experience starting in 1998 when he began coaching competitive club soccer. Two years later from 2000 to 2005 he was the Director of Team Operations for Apex Soccer Club. From 2005 to 2008 he was the Director of Player Development for the club Conejo Valley United on the women's side, which later led to him being the Director of Team/ Player Development in the Conejo Region from 2008 to 2010. After coaching a couple of years for the Eagles Soccer Club, Coach Craig currently coaches at Ventura FC. Throughout Coach Craig's club years, he was able to rack himself and his teams up with a (1) Cal South State Championship, (3) Cal South State Cup Final appearances, and (3) Cal South Semi-Final appearances. Coach Craig also has successfully helped over 60 athletes find opportunities to play college soccer, with 90% of them receiving scholarships. Coach Craig has also coached high school soccer since 2000 when he started with Oaks Christian High School. He took a small break while he was going through his club days and resumed coaching high school ball in 2013 for Malibu High School. Since 2017, he is currently the head coach of Foothill Technology Girls soccer. Some of Coach Craig's achievements from coaching high school soccer include leading the Tri-Valley League Record of 24-2-3, 4x Tri-Valley Coach of the Year, 6x CIF-SS Playoff Appearances, and 1 CIF State Regional Appearance. In Coach Craig's playing experience, he played one year of college soccer for Slippery Rock State College. He also played from 1982-1984 for Danubia SC major Division USL as well as Lawncrest SC 2nd Division USL from 1978 to 1984. Coach Craig currently lives in Oxnard, Calif., with his wife Brenda and has four adult children, two daughters, Kristina, and Dakota, and two sons, Joseph, and Shea (Daughter-in-Law Cat).

A Surprise resident of 23 years, Coach Fallon has tremendous ties to the community, his wife, Natasha has been a teacher for more than 20 years in the Dysart School District and their three boys (Koty, Tanner and Hunter) all attended schools and participated in all city sports right here in Surprise. Each of Fallon's sons have had the opportunity to play college baseball while earning their degrees, with Koty being selected in the MLB Amatuer Baseball Draft by the San Diego Padres in 2019. Coach Fallon has had the unique opportunity to coach and/or be involved in elementary, junior high, high school, college and professional baseball over his 30 year career in baseball. Not only with his own children, but has personally coached and guided players from age 10 to professional baseball. Motivating, teaching and developing players to succeed in the game (and life) has been a personal mission for 30 years.
