April graduated from Guilford College in 1981 and from Campbell School of Law in 1984 and has been in private practice in Sanford ever since. April is married to Kenneth Coldren and has two children, Deirdre, and Evans. For twelve years she represented all the county's abused and neglected children. Her practice is focused on real estate closings and the preparation of wills, Powers of Attorney, and living wills. April has enjoyed varied civic duties including being Past President of Lee County Family Violence and Rape Crisis Center; Past President of the Lee County Kiwanis Club; Past President and Board Member of the Temple Theatre; Past Board Member of Parents as Teachers; Past Board member of the Coalition to Improve the Quality of Life in Lee County; Past Board Member of East Central Community Legal Services and Past Chair of the United Way of Lee County.

Deirdre is also the Past President of the Lee County Bar Association and a former Chair of Lee County Industries.
