Carolyn D. Saint is the chief audit executive for the University of Virginia, with responsibility to provide assurance services for UVA's academic and healthcare divisions and UVA's College at Wise. She joined the University in April 2015, and has nearly 30 years of external and internal audit experience. Prior to joining the University, Ms. Saint served as the vice president of internal audit at 7-Eleven, Inc., a $28B global retailer. In addition to her experience at 7-Eleven, she served as vice president of internal audit for three Fortune 50 retail companies: Lowe's, Sears Holdings, and Kmart. Her career includes over eight years of experience serving clients while at Deloitte. Ms. Saint holds a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Pittsburgh and a M.A. degree in professional accountancy from Walsh College. She is a certified public accountant, a certified internal auditor (CIA), and holds a Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA). She has held various leadership positions with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), having chaired the North American Board of Directors, the Global Advocacy Committee, and the Global Guidance Council. In her role as Global Advocacy chair, she led the creation of the IIA's global advocacy platform, capturing the central role internal auditing plays in good governance and helping organizations achieve their goals. Ms. Saint served on the board of Galvanize, a privately held company specializing in software for Governance, Risk, and Controls professionals, until it was acquired by Diligent at a billion-dollar valuation. Ms. Saint is an active volunteer in the Charlottesville community where she chairs the American Red Cross Central Virginia Chapter, Virginia Region board.

Dan Reid has been with UVA for 21+ years, having joined the UVA Internal Audit department in December, 2017. During his career at UVA, he has worked on both Medical Center and University related audits. He also worked special projects and investigations for many years for the Audit department. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Prior to working at UVA, he worked as an Audit Manager for Liberty Mutual in Boston for 9 years in their internal audit department. He has a BA in Business and Economics from St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH.

Gary Nimax, Assistant Vice President for Compliance, works with compliance managers across Grounds to develop and enhance University programs to comply with federal, state, and regulatory requirements.

Malika Ouenza serves as Audit Analytics Program Leader for the Office of Audit & Compliance. Before moving to UVA, Malika held positions in Budget, Finance and Audit for Harvard University and Arthur Andersen. In addition to passing her CPA, Malika earned a B.S. in Business from Morocco.

Phil Stavropoulos has 18 years of experience with the University of Virginia. Phil joined Internal Audit as a staff auditor in 2001 and was promoted to senior auditor in 2002. He was chosen for an audit manager role in 2013 and then to become audit director for the academic division in 2015. Prior to joining UVA Phil worked in the Manhattan office of Ernst and Young where he served on audit teams in the media and entertainment, retail and wholesale, financial services, and technology industries; he also has lead merger and acquisition engagements. Phil's work at UVA is quite extensive and has included central administration, numerous schools, auxiliaries, and other supporting entities. Phil holds the Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner designations. Phil is an accomplished musician having performed at venues up and down the east coast, recorded in professional studios as both artist and engineer, and has taught music privately and in retail environments. Phil holds a BS in Accounting from Binghamton University (1996).

Rachel Moneymaker, Staff Auditor, has worked at UVA since 2010. Before joining Internal Audit team in 2021, Rachel worked for the UVA Legal Counsel's Office, the Department of Cell Biology, University Physicians Group, and the UVA Medical Center. Rachel received her B.A.S. in Legal Studies from Kaplan University in 2009 and her MBA in 2021 from Purdue University.

Ralph Traylor has over 30 years of experience with the University of Virginia. He began as a staff auditor in 1989 and was subsequently promoted to senior auditor and then to audit manager. From 2001-2008 Ralph served as the Corporate Compliance Officer for the UVA Medical Center. In 2008 he returned to Internal Audit as an audit director covering the UVA Health System. In 2011 Ralph began serving as chief of staff for Internal Audit, a position from which he retired in 2015. Ralph currently serves as a part-time senior auditor focusing on administration. He also serves as chair of the Supervisory Committee for UVA Community Credit Union. Ralph is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Fraud Examiner, and has an MS in Accounting from UVA (1992) and a BS in Business Administration from Liberty University (1985).

Tania Cortes-Escalante, Office Manager, Joined the Audit team in 2024. Before joining UVA Tania worked as a bookkeeper and office administrator since 2014. In January 2024 Tania received a Financial Accounting Fundamentals Certificate from UVA Darden School of Business. She is currently working towards her associate degree in accounting and will then pursue to getting her bachelor's degree. Her commitment to ongoing education supports her dedication to professional development and ensure her ability to support and contribute positively to the department's success.
