In her role as Associate Director, she works on several departmental projects and leads the science and math advising team.

Dr. Andy V. Pham

Dr. Andy V. Pham is an Associate Professor of the School Psychology Program at School of Education and Human Development. Dr. Pham teaches graduate courses on intellectual and academic assessment, educational psychology, and child neuropsychology, as well as undergraduate courses on measurement and evaluation in the classroom for pre-service teachers. Dr. Pham's research interests including examining neurocognitive (e.g., working memory, attention) and sociocultural variables (e.g., acculturation, parent perceptions of disorders and treatment) that affect academic and mental health outcomes of children, adolescents, and diverse populations. He aims to reduce ethnic disparities in mental health and education by determining risk and protective factors in minority youth and families. Dr. Pham currently serves as Associate Editor of APA Division 16's The School Psychologist, and was guest co-editor of the Journal of Educational and Psychological Consultation.

Dr. Maria K. Lovett

Dr. Maria K. Lovett is a Clinical Associate Professor of Social Foundations and Urban Education in the School of Education and Human Development at Florida International University. She is a community-based educator and researcher and the faculty liaison to the South Florida Local Alliance for Math Literacy and Equity (FLAME) and works with the Algebra Project (AP) and Young People's Project (YPP) locally and nationally. As a community-influenced educator and researcher, Maria employs Community Based Action Research (CBAR) and Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) in the field. Drawing from her backgrounds as a documentary filmmaker and educator and her experience documenting the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans she also uses a methodology she created called Video Action Research and Pedagogy to connect documentary production and critical pedagogical praxis to explore interdisciplinary ways of knowing and producing knowledge. Maria spent four years as the director and faculty liaison of The Education Effect, FIU's first university community school partnership with Miami Northwestern Senior High in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami. She has published several articles, book chapters and held conference presentations within the paradigm of social justice and education. Based on her engagement work in the community Maria received FIU's MLK Service Award, the University Faculty Engagement Award, and awards in engagement and teaching with the College of Arts, Sciences and Education. Elizabeth Cramer

Elizabeth Cramer is Distinguished University Professor of Special Education and Graduate Program Director of Teaching and Learning. Her research has led scholarly publications, national consultancies, and multiple grants including 15 federal grants totaling approximately $25 million in support of preparing diverse educators to work in urban settings with high-need students. Dr. Cramer has served as an educational leader at local, state, and national/international levels. She serves on the Miami-Dade County Public School's Superintendent's Advisory Panel for Students with Disabilities. She is past president of both the Division of Diverse Learners of the Council for Exceptional Children and the Florida Council for Exceptional Children. Dr. Cramer received her PhD in Special Education and Reading, her MSEd in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Early Childhood Special Education, and her BA in Special Education and Psychology all from University of Miami. Previously, she taught special education in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Dr. Draper is associate director of liberal studies and a professor of Earth and Environment. He is a geologist whose research focuses on the use of structural and metamorphic information to develop models for the tectonic evolution of the Caribbean. Jacqueline Diaz

Jacqueline "Jacky" Diaz has worked in the field of education for over 15 years and has been a part of the College of Arts, Sciences & Education at FIU since 2010 when she began as a Bridge Advisor for the college. In her current role as Director of Advising & Student Success, she oversees a team of advising administrators, academic advisors, and career counselors. In addition, she supports the Dean with developing and implementing student success initiatives related to student engagement and retention, timely graduation and post-graduation career planning. Jacky serves as the Dean's designee for undergraduate student services in CASE. Jacky earned her Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and English from the Florida State University, where she also earned a Master's degree in English Education. In her previous professional role, Jacky taught high school English & Social Studies in Tallahassee, FL and as a lead teacher helped establish Leon County's first high school career academies. A Miami native, Jacky shares her home with her college sweetheart, her two boys, and their beloved puppy.

Martha Pelaez

Martha Pelaez is a Frost Professor at the School of Education and Human Development, Florida International University. She received her PhD in 1992 in Developmental Psychology, winning the International Dissertation Award from the International Society for Infant Studies for her research on "Infant learning to reference maternal emotional expressions." After completing a postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Miami, in 1994, she became Assistant Professor of Psychology at FIU, Associate Professor in 1998, and full Professor in 2004. She received the Frost Professor award in 2006, a College of Education formal recognition for excellence in research and scholarly work. She has supervised students' doctoral dissertations and master theses, teaches courses in Educational Psychology and Child and Adolescent Development, Applied Behavior Analysis, Single Subject Designs, and directs infant and early childhood research. Dr. Pelaez was the past Program Chair for the American Psychological Association, for Division 25 and past Program Co-Chair for the Association for Behavior Analysis. Dr. Pelaez has served as the Legislative Liaison with the Florida Legislature. In 2005 and 2006, she Chaired the Advisory Council of Faculty Senates of Florida (ACFS) and was member of numerous program review and search and screen committees. Between 2003 and 2006, she served as a member of the ACC (Articulation Coordinating Committee) of the Florida Department of Education, Chaired the Advisory Council of Faculty Senates ACFS representing Florida SUS faculty, and served as member of the Florida Board of Governors. Dr. Pelaez serves as the vice chair of the FIU Faculty Senate. She has four daughters, 11 grandchildren and a baby girl on her way, and enjoys sailing and raising.

Thomas G. Reio, Jr. is a Professor of Adult Education and Human Resource Development. He has also held previous administrative positions including serving as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies of the former College of Education, chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and Interim Chair for the Department of Leadership and Professional Studies. Dr. Reio was a manager, chief operating officer, and training director for 16 years in the service industry. He has been a certified professional horticulturist since 1989. After serving four years as a Lecturer at the University of Maryland and six years as an assistant and tenured associate professor at the University of Louisville, Dr. Reio moved to FIU in 2007. Dr. Reio has extensive experience in the area of graduate studies, having experienced considerable success teaching and advising doctoral and master's level students. He teaches graduate classes in adult education and human resource development, educational psychology, and research methods. His research concerns taking a sociocultural view of curiosity and risk-taking motivation and their links to learning and development across the lifespan, socialization practices (e.g., mentoring), and workplace incivility. Tom is editor of Human Resource Development Quarterly and former co-editor of the journal New Horizons in Adult Education and Human Resource Development. He is also past editor of Human Resource Development Review. He serves on the editorial boards of Contemporary Educational Psychology, Educational Psychology Review, Human Resource Development Review, International Journal of Self-Directed Learning, Journal of Experimental Education, and the Journal of Genetic Psychology, among others. He also has served in several College and University-wide committees including being chair of the COE's Academic Council, the Selective Salary Committee, and Faculty Senate representative. Since 2002, he has been chair of the Academic Writing Program for new faculty in Division C of AERA, and the Graduate Student Research Excellence Award Committee. At his previous university, he served as program director of the career and technical teacher certification program, co-director of the Department of Education, Leadership, and Human Resource (ELFH), and co-coordinator of the human resource education master's and doctoral. Several of Dr. Reio's recent works have won prestigious awards. In August 2010, a coauthored paper concerning a longitudinal examination of adolescent risk-taking and its health-related outcomes was co-winner of the paper-of-the-year in the Journal of School Psychology (6th ranked journal in psychology). In March 2012, a co-authored paper with one of his graduate students regarding workplace incivility and conflict management was awarded the Richard A. Swanson Research Paper-of-the-Year Award for Human Resource Development Quarterly, the most prestigious research journal in the HRD field. On the same day, two former FIU students and Dr. Reio were awarded the Issue-of-the-Year Award for their themed issue on workplace engagement in the journal Advances in Developing Human Resources. As a result of these accomplishments, Tom was awarded an FIU Top Scholar Award in Spring 2012 and the UGS Provost Award for Mentorship of Graduate Students in Spring 2014.

Aside from her role as an Assistant Director of Academic Advising Services for the College of Arts, Sciences, & Education, she is an adjunct professor for the Department of Global and Sociocultural Studies, the Honors College, and the Liberal Studies Dept.
