Dr. Kelly C. Harnick

Dr. Kelly Harnick is the founder/owner of West Maui Counseling Center. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland and her B.A. in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Notre Dame and postdoctoral clinical fellowship at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Harnick is licensed as a Maui Psychologist in the State of Hawaii, Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology. She works with adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health concerns, as well as specializes in recovery from trauma/abuse and women's mental health. She completed training and worked in large hospital settings including the Department of Medical Psychology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the University of Maryland Medical System, and Sheppard Pratt Hospital, located in Baltimore, MD. She also has specialized experience and training on the inpatient trauma disorders unit at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in the the treatment of PTSD, Dissociative Disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder, and co-occurring mental health issues related to severe and chronic trauma. Dr. Harnick completed a Postdoctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology (MSCP) in 2013 and collaborates frequently with other medical professionals. She will pursue advanced licensure as a Medical/Prescribing Psychologist with Prescriptive Authority when Hawaii State law permits. She also served on the Board of Directors for Mental Health America Maui County and was involved in legislative advocacy work at the Hawaii State Capitol lobbying for improved access to quality mental health care for the Maui Community. Dr. Harnick also volunteered her time over the years serving on the Board of Directors for The West Maui Taxpayers Association, an organization focused on identifying the needs of the West Maui community and lobbying county and state governments for support for these important community projects. She was awarded the first inaugural alumni award from her doctoral program at Loyola University Maryland for advocacy for professional psychology. Before opening West Maui Counseling Center in 2011, She served as a Staff Psychologist at Molokai Community Health Center from 2010-2012. Before moving to West Maui, She lived full time in Hana and practiced at Hana Community Health Center from 2008-2011, serving the residents of rural East Maui.
