Kalamazoo County Consolidated Dispatch Authority (KCCDA) was created in 2014 by the City of Kalamazoo, City of Portage, Kalamazoo County, the Charter Township of Kalamazoo, and Western Michigan University. KCCDA was formed for the purpose of merging each of these entity's public safety dispatch operations into a county-wide consolidated dispatch center... KCCDA completed the consolidation of the five dispatch centers in October of 2018 and now operates the sole 9-1-1 and public safety dispatch center for all of Kalamazoo County. The consolidated dispatch is the sixth largest emergency communications center in the State of Michigan. KCCDA employs 55 Emergency Communications Officers (48 full-time and 7 part-time), 6 Dispatch Supervisors, 3 IT positions, and 4 Administrative staff. KCCDA receives on average 460 9-1-1 and 775 non-emergency calls each day equating to 37,500 per month or 460,000 each year and dispatches 287,000 incidents each year.
