Maxipos was originally the brainchild of two university friends, both with a burning ambition to start their own business together. After finishing their degrees at Oxford University, one joined L'Oréal, the world's largest beauty company, as a management trainee specialising in marketing. The other joined his sister's fledging internet business, soon to be one of the main players in the dotcom boom. Both learnt an immense amount in a short period of time, often being thrown in at the deep end by their employers, expected to not just float but to succeed. Despite working 12 hour days, the friends would meet up most nights to discuss what business they might one day create.
