STARZ AERIAL DANCE SCHOOL - Key Persons

Mei Zheng put

Mei Zheng put on her first pair of ballet shoes at the age of 6 and has never looked back since. During her classical ballet training years, she attained Distinction in her Royal Academy of Dance examinations. At the same time, she received Chinese Dance training under the tutelage of Miss Leong Siew Yeng. Her passion for dance was heightened when she attained a dance scholarship under the "Developing Artiste Programme" at Jitterbugs Swingapore, where she was exposed to Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Lindy Hop. Her dedication has given her various opportunities to perform on numerous local and overseas stage shows, festivals, television productions and musicals, including Great World Cabaret, Starhub TVB Awards, Sibu International Dance Festival, National Gallery Opening and Singapore River Festival. Mei Zheng is also a freelance dance educator in MOE schools, where she enjoys sharing her passion to the children, while making classes fun. With her love for dance and heights, Mei Zheng quickly fell in love with the elegance and challenges of aerial arts. She has performed aerial for various local and overseas events such as Marina Bay Countdown, Sydney Pole Reflections, Zoukout, Mauritius Food & Cultural Festival, Mediacorp Star Awards, and National Day Parade 2017. She also choreographed and performed aerial silks and aerial hoop at the 8th ASEAN Para Games Opening Ceremony, Singapore Grand Prix 2019 and Singapore Bicentennial 2019. Mei Zheng also had the opportunity to share her signature Aerial Hoop and Silks tricks in her workshops hosted by Body&Pole, New York. As an instructor, watching her students gain confidence and strength-from the first day they stepped into class, to the moments they achieved their personal aerial goals or shine on stage-gives her the greatest joy and satisfaction. Their enthusiasm and perseverance never fail to inspire her to always better herself as a person, an instructor and a performer.
