Colwyn Chambers

Colwyn Chambers is served by excellent public transport links. The main railway hub for Manchester, Piccadilly Station, which connects the city to London, Glasgow and many other major cities in the UK is a short 10 minute walk away. The nearest bus stop is located immediately outside the main entrance of Colwyn Chambers with a free bus service operates between 7am and 7:15 each weekday from Piccadilly train station to New York Street. Also within a few minutes walk is Piccadilly tram stop offering access to the Metrolink services across Greater Manchester.

Dave Jones - COO

Originally from Shropshire, the Chief Operating Officer Dave Jones has undertaken a number of senior policing roles across the Midlands during a 32 year police career. In 2009, as Head of the Central Motorway Policing Group he accrued extensive experience of collaborative working through policing the roads across Staffordshire, West Mercia and West Midlands forces. Since 2012, he has supported Chief Constable leads nationally for roads policing. He holds a Batchelor's degree in Geography and History and various management qualifications.

Gary Robinson

Gary has been a Board director since 1 May 2018. He is Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee. Gary is currently Executive Director of Corporate Services with Paradigm Housing Group, where he has been since 2015. With experience ranging across the public and private sectors Gary has held a number of senior positions including Group HR Director with Renewable Energy Systems, HR Director, UK Commercial with RSA and HR Director for West Yorkshire Police. Gary's core profession is human resource management but he has held strategic accountability for a range of functions including IT, customer services, governance, marketing and legal services. His other non-executive and industry advisory roles have included; CIPD Professional Advisor to Bucks New University, Chairman of the Skills and Employment Strategy Board, Renewable UK, Chairman of the Renewables Network Group, Nationals Skills Academy for Power (NSAP) and Member of the Operations Committee, NSAP.

Hugh Sutherland - CFO, Secretary

Hugh Sutherland is a chartered accountant who has worked in the professional services, research and not-for-profit sectors, including stints at Oxera, a leading economic consultancy and The Cochrane Collaboration, the gold standard source of evidence in healthcare. As well as accounting, administration and finance, he deals with aspects of governance and risk management for both UKROEd and The Road Safety Trust. Based in Oxford with his wife, children and a cat, he likes to go ski-ing, punting and doing tri-athlons.

Jeremy Reynolds

Jeremy Reynolds spent 30 years working in corporate affairs, primarily in financial services, having previously been Head of Public Policy at the RAC. He was director of communication and marketing for the largest pan-African bank following a spell as Barclaycard's corporate affairs director. Prior to that he headed Visa's international corporate affairs function. Throughout his career, Jeremy has been heavily involved in change management, helping organisations through difficult transitions as well as campaigning for change on the part of governments and industries. He chairs a Multi-Academy Trust and, until recently, was chair of Education Support, a charity that supports teachers in crisis. He is an Advanced Driver and Motorcyclist who spends much of his leisure time as a blood biker, part of a charity that delivers blood and other products to NHS hospitals. He is also lifelong supporter of Nottingham Forest and a keen scuba diver He has a PhD in economics.

Kathy Webster

Kathy graduated from Durham University with a degree in Medieval and Modern History. She trained and qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Young (a predecessor firm of Ernst and Young). Post qualification she worked in their National Technical and Advice department. Her additional qualifications include the ICAEW Diploma in Charity Accounting. She has wide experience across the charity and not-for-profit sector, having worked in the NHS as Assistant Finance Director at a Trust; at the University of Warwick and a leading independent school; and in various voluntary roles. She recently retired as Group Finance Director of the Chartered Institution of Waste Management (CIWM), a charity group working in the resource management and environmental sector. Her current roles include being a governor of a local primary school and a member of the Audit Committee of the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association (CABA). Kathy is a Trustee of the Road Safety Trust and is the Trust's appointed representative on the UKROEd Board.

Peter Strachan - Chairman

Peter Strachan has over 40 years' experience in transport in the UK and Australia, including running a number of UK Train Operating Companies, CEO of the TransLink Transit Authority in Queensland and as Director General for Major Projects and London in the Department for Transport during the London 2012 Olympic Games. He currently serves on the Boards of Merseyrail and Caledonian Sleeper for Serco plc, the Board of Transport for London and is a non-executive Board member for Transport for Wales Rail. He is Chair of the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Chair of the Inverness Business Improvement District. Peter is a BA Honours graduate in geography from Durham University.

Ruth Purdie - CEO

Ruth is responsible for overseeing UKROEd's strategic delivery. Prior to her appointment in 2018, Ruth was General Secretary of TISPOL, the European Roads Policing Network. She is skilled in crisis management, coaching, assessment, government, emergency management and law enforcement. In her TISPOL role she worked with all European governments, senior police officers and road safety experts to deliver a co-ordinated approach to road safety across Europe. Ruth's career as a police officer spanned 33 years and took her to the rank of Assistant Chief Constable. Her experience in policing contributed to her skill in managing critical incidents and major investigations. An experienced Interviewer and examination assessor at executive level, she has a proven track record of working in the staffing and recruiting industry. Working for the College of Policing, Ruth was the lead facilitator in developing the Strategic Command Course - Operational Delivery Module and assessment process between 2015 - 2019. She holds a first class honours degree in management from the University of Manchester. Ruth was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list 2021, for services to Policing and Road Safety.
