In high school, Angela participated in a career shadowing program where she spent a few weeks at her local prosecutor's office. This was her first glimpse at a legal career. In college, Angela participated in Butler's pre-law society attending career panels and visiting law schools. Once time for law school finally rolled around, Angela knew she wanted to stay in Indianapolis, a city she had grown to love. Angela graduated from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of law where she was a member of the Deans Tutorial Society and the Evening Vice-President of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. Angela practices in the Health Care Practice Group at Katz Korin Cunningham and focuses her practice on the defense of health care providers, namely long-term care providers, in cases alleging medical malpractice in courts throughout the State of Indiana. She offers a great deal of health care experience obtained through both private and public practice, consulting, and as V.P. Operations for a national healthcare compliance consulting and software company. Barb has represented hospitals, hospital systems, nursing homes, and other providers, large and small, throughout the United States and served for several years as in-house counsel with a large Indiana health system. Barb concentrates her practice in regulatory compliance, privacy and security, risk management, contracting, administrative and civil litigation, and emergency preparedness and response. For the past several years, Barb served at the Indiana Department of Health as its first regulatory compliance and policy officer and as special counsel for emergency response. Among other notable accomplishments, Barb helped developed Indiana's syringe services legislation and additional harm reduction programming in response to the opioid crisis, convened several state agencies to develop protocols in compounding and infection control and injection safety for physician clinics, and played an integral role in Indiana's COVID-19 response. Brian Park is a partner with the Health Care practice group at Katz Korin Cunningham. Brian concentrates his practice on representing hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other health care providers in all manners of litigation and general legal advisement. He handles a wide variety of matters ranging from medical malpractice actions, license disciplinary investigations and complaints, commercial litigation, administrative proceedings and judicial reviews, and general civil defense. Brian began his legal career defending governmental entities in civil litigation, working in both public and private practice. This provided an invaluable base of legal experience, as it provided mentorship from seasoned government lawyers and the opportunity to manage a caseload in state and federal court. His government litigation resume includes successful constitutional defenses of several Indiana statutes, including the Right to Farm Act (Indiana Code § 32-30-6-9), Indiana's municipal dual-employment prohibition (Indiana Code § 3-5-9), and Indiana's major political party statute (Indiana Code § 3-5-2-30). Prior to joining Katz Korin Cunningham, Brian was legal counsel for several state agencies, including the Indiana Board of Medical Examiners, the Indiana Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Indiana School for the Deaf, and the Indiana Integrated Public Safety Commission. Chuck Niblick is an attorney with the litigation team at Katz Korin Cunningham. He focuses his practice on insurance defense, insurance coverage, asbestos litigation, and environmental litigation. Chuck represents insureds - both individuals and entities - in motor vehicle accidents, dog bite cases, employer liability cases, premises liability cases, and products liability cases, including cases involving alleged asbestos exposure. Doug has built a growing practice representing medical professionals in a wide range of capacities, focusing primarily on cases alleging medical malpractice and violations of the constitution. Doug has handled numerous complex medical cases in state and federal court, taking many cases to verdict. The son of a correctional officer, Doug was able to take his experience from years of being around those who serve in the correctional setting and apply it to his practice, primarily handling cases in federal court from the moment he received his license. Through the years, his practice has grown to include cases alleging medical malpractice, deliberate indifference, excessive force, unconstitutional conditions of confinement and retaliation, violations of the ADA/Rehab Act, due process violations, intentional torts, and many others. Dwight L. Miller is Of Counsel with the business law practice group. Dwight focuses his practice on transactions, general corporate, commercial, lending, and real estate legal matters. Dwight has practiced both with law firms and as an in-house attorney. Prior to joining Katz Korin Cunningham, he was in private practice with a Chicago boutique business law firm and, before that, with a small Indianapolis law firm. Dwight began his practice in Indianapolis with full-service law firms, working with companies in many industries, including manufacturing, health care, financial services, communications, and real estate. These businesses ranged in size from small, privately held businesses to large public companies. As part of that practice, Dwight worked with executives, business unit leaders, in-house attorneys, and others throughout these organizations. As a result, he is quite comfortable serving as "outside" general counsel for small and mid-sized companies who need legal counsel for a variety of day-to-day matters and who require an attorney to manage their other legal needs, such as litigation matters. After more than 15 years of private practice, Dwight transitioned to a senior in-house position with a medical device manufacturer. Kathryn Watson has been an environmental lawyer in Indiana for more than 36 years in a career that has encompassed private practice and government service. Kathryn has served in a variety of roles in government, including legal practice and management positions at the state and local levels, which allows her to assist clients in private practice with a wide range of environmental matters including site remediation, underground storage tanks, air, water, waste, wetlands, and stormwater.
