Dr. William Olson

Since returning to the Quad City area in 2005, Dr. William Olson, FACS has been practicing as a General Surgeon, providing top quality surgical care for his home town and surrounding communities. Bill grew up in a small town in Illinois called Joy, about 30 miles outside of the Quad Cities. As a young man he was very active in sports, farming and community activities. Bill spent much of his younger life raising and caring for sick animals on their farm but not until he gained experience as an EMT for the Mercer County Hospital did the medical field present as a potential career opportunity for him. Dr. Olson has maintained somewhat of a local presence in attaining his education. He received a bachelor's degree at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, attended medical school at the University of Illinois in Peoria and completed his surgical residency training at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois. He is a board certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Currently, Bill continues to maintain a very healthy and active lifestyle, still engaging in farming activities with his family when time allows. He also enjoys weight lifting, running, sand volleyball and hunting and fishing activities. He spends most of his free time with his four children and they are all avid fans of the Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, Bulls and Cubs!
