Alan Spencer - CEO, Founder

Co-founder Alan Spencer is one of two managing partners who provide strategic leadership of overall company operations and inspire the team to collaborative excellence. He helps oversee corporate management, business development, budgets, policy, and the recruiting of key personnel. A 20+ year veteran of public and private sector diversified strategic management, operations, audit, finance, and acquisition, Mr. Spencer is highly experienced in building and leading diverse cross-functional teams and working under tight deadlines. Partner-in-charge for all financial statement and performance audits, audit readiness efforts, and internal control reviews, he has final authority and responsibility for all work performed and reports issued on these engagements. Mr. Spencer received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from California State University-Sacramento, and a Master of Science degree in Management from Troy State University. He is also a graduate of the Professional Military Comptroller School. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member in good standing of the American Institute of CPAs; the Ohio, Virginia, and California societies of CPAs; the American Society of Military Comptrollers; the Institute of Internal Auditors; and the Association of Government Accountants.

Ed Doña - CEO, Founder

Co-founder Ed Doña is one of two managing partners who provide strategic leadership of overall company operations and inspire the team to collaborative excellence. As a visionary and a strategic planner, he is able to take on the most complex projects and lead the team in delivering superior results. With more than 25 years' experience in diversified strategic management, operations, audit, finance, and acquisition, he has worked extensively in both public and private sectors. Mr. Doña has built and led many diverse, cross-functional teams and has successfully met countless compressed schedules. A retired Air Force senior officer and navigator, Mr. Doña received a Bachelor of Science degree in International Affairs from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Global Information Technology from American University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Virginia Society of CPAs, the American Society of Military Comptrollers, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Association of Government Accountants.

James E. Short - COO

As Acuity's Chief Operating Officer (COO), James E. Short is responsible for procuring and directing Acuity's audit engagements in both the federal and commercial sectors. He also supports the evaluation and reporting of agencies' systems and methodologies for compliance with various directives and accounting standards. Additionally, he provides policy guidance to federal agencies on how to compile financial statements in preparation for financial statement audits. Mr. Short takes on the role of COO after serving in a variety of leadership capacities at Acuity, including as Director of Business Development, Vice President of Audit and Assurance, and President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Prior to Acuity, Mr. Short spent nearly 30 years in federal financial management community, most recently as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller). He spent eight years as a key member of the Senior Executive Service. He also served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Financial Operations) to the Assistant Secretary for Financial Management and Comptroller, the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Financial Operations / Technology), and Senior Policy Analyst for Government-wide Accounting, Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget. Mr. Short was formerly the principal adviser to the Assistant Secretary and the Air Force senior staff on issues regarding the amended Chief Financial Officers Act of 1990 and related financial management reforms. In addition, he was instrumental in assuring Air Force compliance with financial management mandates leading to the effective and efficient use of resources. Mr. Short holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Strayer University. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Defense Financial Manager, Certified Government Financial Manager, and Chartered Global Management Accountant. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Greater Washington Society of CPAs, National Association of Black Accountants, Association of Government Accountants, American Society of Military Comptrollers, National Contract Management Association, National Defense Industrial Association, and The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.

McCoy Williams - CEO, President

As President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), McCoy Williams leads Acuity's efforts to cultivate client relationships, develop strategic alliances with industry partners, and expand business services in both the federal and private sectors. He also provides strategic leadership over daily operations and workforce development. A former member of the Senior Executive Service, Mr. Williams brings to his current position over 30 years of private sector and federal financial and program management experience. He is a recognized expert on GAO Yellow Book (Auditing Standards), Green Book (Internal Controls), and OMB Circular A-123, and has extensive knowledge of budgeting, accounting, internal control, improper payments, and auditing standards. In a previous position as Managing Director for GAO's largest audit unit, he played a major role, while detailed to Congress, in drafting key financial management legislation such as the Chief Financial Officer's Act of 1990 and the Improper Payments Information Act of 2002. Mr. Williams is a CPA and CGFM, and maintains active memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Government Accountants, Greater Washington Society of CPAs, and American Society of Military Comptrollers.

Mona Thomas

As Acuity's Chief Administrative Officer, Mona Thomas oversees all company operations, including facilities, security, contracts management, information technology, and accounting. She works closely with Acuity's managing partners and directors to ensure the cost-effective management of resources and the delivery of quality services to Acuity clients. In addition, as Proposal Manager, she directs Acuity's proposal process from initial strategy to concept to presentation to the customer. Ms. Thomas has nearly 25 years of experience in financial management and auditing. She began her career with the United States Air Force, conducting audits on major weapon system acquisition programs. She later served as Comptroller of the Air Force Audit Agency, where she was responsible for the planning, programming, budgeting, and execution of all agency funds. She has consulted for multiple Department of Defense clients, including the Defense Information Systems Agency, where she oversaw the development of a critical transition plan to support the overhaul of the Air Force One fleet, and the Missile Defense Agency, where she led a team that managed all formulation and execution processes for the Kinetic Energy Inceptor Directorate. Ms. Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Data Systems and Information Technology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Texas Lutheran University. She is a CDFM-A, and is an active member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers and Institute of Internal Auditors.
