Christian has over 21 years experience in the Financial Markets. Before joining Ballast Rock, Christian was a managing director and the Global Head of FX Exotics Trading at Goldman Sachs. Over his career, he traded many products including FX, Commodity and Interest Rate Derivatives. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2000 as an associate in Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities and was named managing director in 2008. Christian started his career at UBS in 1996.
Christian is a former member of the Board of Directors of The Yale Club of New York City, where he also served on the House Committee and as Chairman of the Membership and Marketing Committee. Christian received a BS in Applied Mathematics from Yale University.
Dirk has over 25 years of experience investing in venture capital and private equity, operating high growth companies, and advising entrepreneurs.
Dirk started his investment career at Citigroup Investments Technology Ventures, managing a $450 million corporate venture capital fund. He then was Managing Director roles at Prodos Capital Management (a buyout focused private equity firm) and a private family office.
In addition to his investing experience, Dirk has led multiple healthcare companies, serving as CEO of a medical technology company, Chairman of a company launching musculoskeletal pain medical clinics in the Middle East. Most recently, Dirk was the COO of a leading Covid-19 testing and vaccination company.

Dr. Paul Schubert has over 35 years of experience in development and commercialization of innovative technologies in the petrochemical and natural gas and renewables industries. Prior to starting Strategic Biofuels, he served as Chief Operating Officer of USA BioEnergy. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director for Velocys, a publicly traded company on the London AIM exchange. In this capacity he was responsible for the development and deployment of Velocys' Fischer-Tropsch technology for converting biomass, waste, landfill gas, and natural gas to renewable diesel, jet fuel, and wax products. Additionally, he was responsible for all engineering, reactor and catalyst manufacturing, HSE, and R&D. This resulted in the successful commercial scale demonstration of the technology in partnership with Waste Management and NRG in Envia Energy LLC's landfill gas to renewable diesel and wax plant on Waste Management's Oklahoma City, OK landfill.
He previously served as Global Sales Manager for Asset Integrity Management and Director of Operations for SGS, the largest testing, inspection, and verification company in the world. Before that Dr. Schubert served as VP of R&D with Syntroleum and increasing levels of technology development and management with Catalytica, Phillips Petroleum, and Engelhard Corporation where he was responsible for commercialization of multiple products in the process and regulatory compliance industries.
Dr. Schubert is an inventor on 16 US patents and an author of over 40 publications. Dr. Schubert received his BS degree in Chemistry with Highest Honors from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He received his PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
