ALAN PATERSON - Founder, Managing Director

Alan is the founder of Plenitude and has a proven track record in successfully delivering complex and business critical programmes with specific expertise in Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) advisory and transformation. He has provided advisory services and played key roles on some of the most complex and critical FCC transformations in the industry, which includes working with 5 of the 14 banks subject to the Systematic AML Programme (SAMLP) in the UK, and working with other leading banking, insurance and asset management firms. He started his career at Accenture and has over 22 years Risk and Compliance consulting experience with 11 years focused specifically on FCC. Through his work Alan has developed a deep understanding of FCC regulations and regulatory expectations and has worked with Heads of Financial Crime Compliance and CXO's to provide strategic advice on how to implement robust and effective financial crime control frameworks, or address feedback from the regulator post regulatory review. Alan is currently focused on developing Plenitude's cryptoasset advisory capability and as part of his work is advising firms on the risks associated with cryptoassets and the controls to address them. He has also contributed to a number of thought leadership papers which aim to better educate financial institutions on the risks associated with cryptoassets and drive the required action and dialogue between the regulator, crypto firms and financial institutions.

ALLAN CLARE

With over 25 years operational and strategic experience leading financial crime risk management and compliance functions, as well as coordinating transformation and remediation programmes, Allan is an accomplished financial crime specialist and leader in the financial services sector, particularly banking and insurance. With a wealth of knowledge and experience acquired through senior executive leadership roles within a range of systemically important institutions across sectors including retail, wealth and commercial banking, credit cards, payments and general insurance with both domestic and global institutions, Allan has gained an industry-wide reputation as an innovator and thought leader and therefore well placed to advise Plenitude Consulting as the firm works with their clients seeking to address financial crime related challenges and strategic planning. In his most recent role Allan was a member of the Executive Committee at HSBC UK Bank Plc, HSBC's ‘ring fenced bank', formed to comply with the UK's Banking Reform Act. Here Allan held FCA Senior Manager responsibility (SMF17) for the bank's financial crime risk management programme covering all businesses, products and services. Throughout his career, Allan has held numerous external industry roles including most recently membership of the UK Finance Economic Crime Payment & Services Board where he actively led collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors, working in partnership with law enforcement, Government and industry bodies to drive forward economic crime reform in the UK.

ANDY WALTON - CFO

Andy is the Chief Financial Officer at Plenitude. With over 13 years' experience building and leading finance teams, his key areas of expertise are around processes, controls, and setting companies on the path for future growth. He has a passion for embedding a business partnering culture within organisations, effectively collaborating across functions. Prior to joining Plenitude, Andy led the finance team at Deallus, a life science consultancy. He oversaw all aspects of finance and successfully expanded the organisation into new regions on numerous occasions. His ability to analyse situations from multiple angles and build out scenarios made him a key member of the leadership team. Andy began his career in assurance at PwC, where he audited a range of different sized businesses across multiple industries. Subsequently, he moved to World Fuel Services, focusing on company integrations and mergers. Andy brings a calm and measured approach in his ability to see the bigger picture whilst also remaining detail oriented. He is a change leader with a growth mindset aimed at achieving targets. He is an FCA, member of the ICAEW.

ASAD CHOUDHARY

Asad is a Partner at Plenitude and is a subject matter expert and advisor to Heads of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) across a number of Global, European and UK financial institutions. He provides advisory and transformation services and has played key roles on several complex and high-profile financial crime matters for clients that have been subject to Systematic AML Programme (SAMLP), Skilled Person (S166) reviews, Cease & Desist Orders and Monitorships. Prior to joining Plenitude, he held FCC roles at Morgan Stanley and GE Capital where he was the Head of AML and Sanctions for the EMEA region. He started his career at Deloitte's and has over 21 years of Financial Crime Risk and Compliance experience covering of FCC laws and regulations, programme management, process improvement and systems implementation. His FCC subject matter expertise includes Anti-Money Laundering; Customer Due Diligence/Enhanced Due Diligence; Counter Terrorist Financing; Economic and Trade Sanctions; Proliferation Financing; Anti-Corruption/Anti-Bribery; Tax Evasion; and Market Abuse. His client coverage includes leading Retail, Private, Commercial and Investment banks; and Wealth, Asset and Investment Management firms.

CHRIS BONE

Chris has over 14 years' experience in Fraud & Financial Crime roles across roles the Finance sector, holding senior Fraud Financial Crime and Transformation in positions within Global Financial Services organisations spanning multiple geographies. Before joining Plenitude, Chris played a pivotal role in establishing the 1st Line of Defence Fraud & Financial Crime team for a challenger bank affiliated with a global banking giant. His role involved creating and continually refining processes, tools, policies, and procedures from the ground up. With a primary focus on Operations & Fraud Risk management, Chris also has a keen interest in staying up-to-date with the ever-evolving fraud technology & threat landscape. His ability to balance both local and global considerations, along with a deep understanding of regulatory constraints, underscores his dedication to aligning the interests of all stakeholders within a firm's risk appetite to construct robust frameworks that have consistently proven successful over the years. With extensive knowledge of the global fraud landscape gained through diverse roles in banking, and the FinTech sector, Chris has honed the ability to build world-class fraud teams that leverage data-driven decision-making across the finance sector. DANIEL KEAY

Daniel is a subject matter expert in Economic Crime, including Anti Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Sanctions and Anti Bribery and Corruption. He has worked in Financial Services for over 24 years, primarily focused on financial crime prevention and compliance in Investment, Wholesale and Corporate banking, Wealth and Investment Management. Daniel has over 19 years exclusive financial crime experience having started his career with Fidelity International in 1999 he eventually moved into their oversight department that covered financial crime compliance as well as investigations. He then continued his career working closely with all lines of defence at WestLB AG, Portigon AG, Royal Bank of Canada and Commerzbank AG. His roles have not only focussed on the day to day FCC responsibilities and leadership but he has also had key involvement in strategic reviews and change programs in these institutions. He is also a former MLRO and has been a registered CF11/SMF17. Daniel holds ICA Diplomas in Financial Crime Prevention and Anti Money Laundering.

Jesal is a Senior Executive at Plenitude with a proven track record of delivering complex and time critical Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) transformation initiatives in Tier 1 banks, global insurance and investment management firms. He has over 14 years of experience in delivering Financial Crime Transformation programmes, including Target Operating Model (TOM) development, KYC/CDD Remediation, Independent Assessments and Client-Side Support to SAMLP / S166 reviews and enforcement actions. Jesal has 20 Years of Consulting experience in total and, prior to joining Plenitude 9 years ago, was at Deloitte. He specialises in Target Operating Model design and implementation, covering AML, Sanctions, ABC and Facilitation of Tax Evasion. Jesal has delivered challenging group-wide transformation and remediation programmes covering a broad range of FCC controls. This includes Independent Assessments, Obligations Management, Group Standards, Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment, CDD/KYC and Client File Remediation, Customer Risk Assessment, Customer Screening, Transaction Monitoring, Governance and MI, Controls Testing and Monitoring (Assurance), Gifts and Hospitality/COI and Third-Party Risk Assessment. JUSTIN LAM

Justin is a Senior Executive at Plenitude, with over ten years Risk, Regtech, Legal and Compliance experience. He has a proven track record in successfully delivering complex and business critical programmes, with a specific expertise in Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) transformation. Prior to joining Plenitude, Justin held senior roles in Hong Kong at Ernst and Young as well as PwC and KPMG. He specialized in restructuring, fraud investigation, AML, and Sanctions Compliance across multiple business types in Asia with a specific focus on China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Justin has a wealth of experience as a speaker on AML, Regtech and FCC topics. He has contributed to the delivery of AML and Sanctions Compliance training programs to clients in the financial and gaming industries. Justin holds various professional certifications, including AICPA, HKICPA, CPAA and CPA Canada. He is a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), a Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA), a Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and is Certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL). MANUEL FAJARDO

Manuel has over 17 years of experience in the global asset management industry across control functions like Compliance, Internal Control and Internal Audit, in positions with a global remit based in Paris, London and Los Angeles. ​ ​Prior to working with Plenitude, Manuel built the global compliance framework for a major investment management group. This involved designing, deploying and constantly refining processes, tools, policies and procedures. His main areas of focus are Anti-Money Laundering, International Sanctions and Financial Promotions / Distribution, in which he has proved adept at balancing local and global considerations and regulatory constraints, the interest of all stakeholders and firms' risk appetite to build solid frameworks that have proved successful throughout the years.​​ Manuel has a deep knowledge of the cryptoassets industry, acquired through more than six years of studying, investment and advisory work. In the current phase of his career, he has used this knowledge to train companies in the traditional finance sector about the significance of this nascent industry, its actors and developing regulatory framework, as well as advising crypto firms on their regulatory obligations as they seek registrations and; playing an active role in shaping discussions on regulation through industry trade bodies.

MIKE COATES

Mike has over 20 years banking industry experience covering large change programmes and within the last ten years has focused on financial crime programmes helping organisations become compliant via People, process and technology change whilst also driving remediations where there have been gaps and regulatory demands. Prior to joining the Plenitude team, Mike lead a substantial FCC change programme for the commercial bank business in HSBC across 18 countries and 750k clients in Asia and supported the heads of business both regionally and in the various countries. He worked closely with the risk teams in managing all aspects of the financial crime control framework. In the last 3 years, Mike has undertaken the MLRO role at a local HK based crypto company and also worked with Standard Charter to remediate their Securities Services business based on ISSA standards (International Securities Services Association). Mike's experience and pragmatism has allowed him to develop a strong understanding of the implications of implementing FCC changes across the 3 lines of defence and he has strong people skills that help bring people on the journey required to embed FCC within the DNA across an organisation. Mike also has extensive experience in leading and motivating multi-disciplined and geographically dispersed teams; and excellent stakeholder management skills. Mike sits on an industry group for crypto (GDF) and also works for "The Mekong Club" which is an NGO focused on human trafficking. His exposure to real life implications of FCC, make Mike passionate about the subject and determined to address any gaps or failings as he has seen the consequences of failure.
