Anne Cox

Prior to joining BCM in 2021, Anne was based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She worked for one of Liberty Life's largest franchises as an investment, pension, and life insurance administrator, before moving to Abelard Underwriting Agency, where she expanded her knowledge into liability underwriting and claims administration. Having more than 30 years of administration experience under her belt, Anne's focus is to make life easier for those around her. Admin may not be for everyone, but it is her forte!

David Pegler

David is a highly experienced investment professional and founder of Brighton Capital Management. Between 2009 and 2014 he was head of Brewin Dolphin's Brighton business. Previously he had worked for six years at UBS Wealth Management and for 12 years at Cazenove. David began his career as a trainee actuary and has almost 30 years of investment experience. His key skills are investment communication with private clients, charities and intermediaries in the UK, together with portfolio construction and technical analysis. He is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, and outside work David is a keen cyclist, ultra-distance runner, Ironman triathlete and a qualified British Triathlon Federation coach.

Ewen Emmerson - Founder

Ewen is a founder of Brighton Capital Management and was responsible as a director for establishing the Brighton office of Brewin Dolphin, where he successfully built and managed a large book of clients while also heading up the investment desk. Prior to that, Ewen worked as an investment manager at UBS Wealth Management in Brighton, having previously joined the Worthing office of UBS Laing & Cruickshank. He originally trained as a stockbroker and financial adviser, and has spent more than 15 years working with clients on the south coast: as an investment manager and broker he has provided bespoke portfolio solutions and advice to both private and institutional clients. He is highly qualified across a wide range of investment disciplines and as a Chartered Wealth Manager he brings a vast range of experience to help tailor our investment solutions to the wide-ranging needs and objectives of our clients.

Francis Jarman - Founder

Francis Jarman is a founder of Brighton Capital Management and a Chartered Financial Planner. Francis has worked in the financial services profession for more than 30 years at such high-calibre companies as AXA, Barclays, Coutts & Co, UBS Wealth Management and Brewin Dolphin. He was one of the first advisers in the UK to achieve the profession's gold-standard qualification as a Chartered Financial Planner and is also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. Francis has been a committee member on the Personal Finance Society Sussex region for a number of years. Francis has also passed the CFA Investment Management Certificate along with the Chartered Insurance Institute's Portfolio Management exam, which gives him great insight in providing a truly integrated financial planning and wealth management service. Furthermore, Francis holds the Financial Services Certificate for The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) passing with a distinction and is a full member of STEP and holds the TEP qualification. Francis advises on all aspects of financial planning including life protection, pensions, inheritance tax and investments. He enjoys travel, spending time with his family, public speaking and completing cryptic crosswords.

Jason Briggs

Jason has over 20 years experience in Financial Services, the majority of which have been as a Paraplanner. Jason started his financial career at Standard Life. From Standard Life, Jason then moved to the other side of the fence and began working for several boutique financial planning firms. This eventually led to Jason working at Brewin Dolphin where he worked closely with Francis over the course of many years. Prior to joining Brighton Capital Management Jason spent a year away from Paraplanning working as a Compliance Supervisor for Adviser Network - In Partnership. During his time in the Financial Services industry, Jason has obtained the Charterer Insurance Institute (CII) Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and is aiming to achieve Chartered status in the future. In his spare time, he is a Musician (drummer), home cinema enthusiast, and enjoys walking holidays in various UK National Parks with his wife.

Katy Lappin

Job Titles:

Katy has a strong background in business administration, having worked in this area since leaving college. She joined the team at UBS Wealth Management as an Administrator, then onto Brewin Dolphin where she managed the administration team whilst also providing assistance to the Directors. Katy has an NVQ in Business Administration and has attained Level 3 in the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment qualification.

Sylvia Bowen

Sylvia began her career in 1997 when she qualified to give advice at Brewin Dolphin, subsequently joining UBS in 2005 to 2011 to further develop her extensive experience, achieving promotion to Investment Director. She then re-joined Brewin as a Director in 2011 until the recent opportunity arose with Brighton Capital Management. Sylvia is a qualified chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment signifying that she has a high level of not just knowledge and skills but also integrity to work with private individuals, intermediaries and trustees in relation to taxable investment portfolios, personal ISAs and pension funds. Outside of work she is a gym and outdoor pursuits enthusiast - golf, cycling and hiking, in quieter moments finding balance with drawing and photography.
