For versatility and affordability, brass is unmatched in EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining). Brass drills through relatively soft substances with ease, and does so with rapid speed. When drilling through substances such as steel, brass gets the job done more efficiently than any of its rivals, and saves the machinist time and money. Brass falls short when drilling through more robust materials, however. Maintaining the same disintegration rate regardless of the material being drilled, a brass electrode suddenly becomes very wasteful when drilling into a stubborn target.
