Albena Kovacheva

Dr Kovacheva is a specialist in FUE Hair transplantation and has performed a vast number of procedures over a decade of dedication to the art of Hair transplantation. She has performed over 1000 surgeries and performs all aspects of surgery including extraction and implanting of grafts. Dr Kovacheva is a GMC registered Doctor who actively enjoys further learning and professional development and has trained a number of physicians in the field of hair transplantation.

Amir Yazdan

Amir Yazdan, MD, is an internationally renowned hair transplant surgeon, pioneer of modern hair transplant surgery and founder of Modena Hair Institute - a center dedicated to advances in hair transplant research - with practices in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Las Vegas. Dr. Yazdan is a recognized innovator in the field of hair restoration, committed to state-of-the-art medical and surgical techniques. Known as the hair restoration gold standard, Dr. Yazdan only conducts manual extractions using the smallest possible punch, for purposes of maximum accuracy, aesthetic precision and natural-looking design. A specialist in both FUE and FUT (Strip) procedures, Dr. Yazdan is one of the few physicians who routinely performs hair transplants for African American and ethnic patients. Aron Nusbaum

Aron Nusbaum, M.D. specializes in hair restoration surgery and medical treatment of hair loss. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Nusbaum received the Award for Excellence in Dermatologic Surgery during his Dermatology Residency at the University of Miami where he developed expertise in hair disorders working with world-renowned faculty in the field. He is a graduate of the prestigious Medical Scholars Program at the University of Miami where he completed his Bachelor of Science Cum Laude and M.D. degrees with Research Distinction. Dr. Nusbaum has extensive research experience having received several First Place National Awards during his Fellowship in Regenerative Medicine at the University of Miami Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery. Dr. Nusbaum is widely published in the medical literature with articles and book chapters focusing on surgical hair restoration and medical hair loss treatment. Some examples are: "Novel Treatment Modalities for Hair Loss" in the textbook Alopecia; "Recipient Area Complications" and "Dermoscopy and Scalp Biopsy in the Hair Transplant Evaluation" in the textbook Hair Transplantation by Unger and Shapiro (considered "the bible" text in hair restoration); "Commentary… to Assess the Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma on the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia" and "A comparison of apoptotic activity for Follicular Unit Extraction hair grafts stored in different holding solutions" in Dermatologic Surgery; "Platelet Concentrations Achieved by Different Commercial PRP Systems" in Hair Transplant Forum International; "Non-Surgical Therapy for Hair Loss" in Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America. Dr. Nusbaum has contributed to the education of other hair restoration surgeons at the prestigious Annual Meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery lecturing on the novel technique of dermoscopy to diagnose hair disorders in the hair transplant consultation as well as the use of immunohistochemistry to detect protection against hair follicle cell death with the use of advanced graft storage media. Dr. Nusbaum practices with his father, Bernard Nusbaum, M.D. and Paul Rose, M.D., both internationally renowned leaders in the hair transplant field. Dr. Nusbaum personally does all of his own consultations and performs strip FUT with trichophytic closure, robotic and manual FUE, body hair transplants, and revision/repair cases. Carlos K. Wesley

Carlos K. Wesley, M.D. graduated cum laude from Princeton University. He received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine where he earned various awards for academic excellence. After completing his internship in Yale's Department of Surgery, Dr. Wesley's residency training in emergency medicine at Yale was followed by fellowship training with Drs. Walter and Robin Unger. He was honored to be the first International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) fellow invited to join their world-renowned practice. As a partner in the practice, Dr. Wesley has advanced the surgical field by authoring publications and delivering lectures both domestically and internationally. He has presented his research findings on improving wound healing through utilization of endothelial stem cells to audiences throughout the U.S. and South America. In addition, he has lectured domestically on the various applications of hair restoration surgery to dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons. As a diplomat of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS), and a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons (ISHRS), American Medical Association (AMA), American Burn Association (ABA), and American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), Dr. Wesley was honored to author the Hair Transplantation chapter in the 7th Edition of the Grabb & Smith Plastic Surgery textbook, the only remaining single-volume text that attempts to cover the entire field in a comprehensive manner. He has also scripted chapters on Androgenetic Alopecia in both the 3rd and 4th Editions of Treatment of Skin Disease, published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals, and served as a contributing author for the most respected textbook in our field, the 5th Edition of Unger & Shapiro's Hair Transplantation. Recently, Dr. Wesley authored a hair transplantation review for the world's largest physician reference site, WebMD/Medscape - the most authoritative and accessible point of care medical reference available to physicians on the Internet. Finally, in addition to his active clinical practice, he has continued pursuing research interests by working with colleagues at Yale School of Medicine to develop a unique surgical technique that may improve the yield of transplanted hair follicles while rendering scarring imperceptible. Christine M. Shaver

Christine M. Shaver MD is a board-certified and Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hair loss. Dr. Shaver graduated from M.I.T. in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then went on to pursue medicine at New York Medical College where she graduated at the top of her class with distinguished Alpha Omega Alpha honors. She did her Internal Medicine internship at Yale University and then completed dermatology residency at Drexel - Hahnemann hospital in Philadelphia where she served as Chief Resident. In her Mohs fellowship Dr. Shaver learned advanced surgical skills that she now uses to perform meticulous hair transplants. This was followed by learning the Bernstein-Rassman methods of follicular unit transplantation and follicular unit extraction, first with Dr. Rassman in California and then under the mentorship of Dr. Bernstein in New York. With a background from M.I.T., it is natural for her to implement technological advancements in her work and thus uses the ARTAS robotic system for her FUE procedures. She also has a special interest in the field of hair cloning and hopes to someday use this to allow all her patients to be eligible candidates for hair transplantation.

Daniel A. Danyo

Daniel A. Danyo, MD is world certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, the only recognized certification for hair restoration surgery. He founded North Atlanta Hair Restoration in 2012 to provide advanced restoration techniques in a medically safe environment. Dr. Danyo has personally performed over 4 million successful hair graft excisions and placements.

David Anderson

David joined The Maitland Clinic after a 10 year association as a patient first and then patient advisor with internationally renowned hair restoration surgeons Hasson & Wong. His journey in hair goes back over 20 years. David first started noticing his hair loss at the tender age of 21. Having tried a variety of treatments to keep his hair for two years he had his first hair transplant in the UK aged 23 in 1996. With techniques much less refined and surgery sizes smaller back then David had to undergo two further small procedures in the following years. With medication such as Propecia not available in the UK at the time, David went on to lose most of his native hair. "I was very self conscious of my hairline and how unnatural it looked. Back in the 1990s, hair transplants were very different that what can be achieved now. Janna Shafer
