Mount Backpackers is a 2-minute walk from the best beach in New Zealand - Mount Maunganui beach. Three minutes walk in the opposite direction will take you from our front door to the magical Pilot Bay beach, a stunning flat harbor inlet that runs along the Southwestern side of Mount Maunganui. Pilot Bay is a great place to relax and read under a secluded palm tree, play on the sand or grassy space, reflect on the magical sunset or enjoy a BBQ using the free supplied facilities. A wide open park with lots of peaceful green space is opposite our back door as we are overlooked by the ancient burial caves and sacred hill Hopukiore, known in English as Mount Drury. Mount Backpackers provides the best free high speed WIFI throughout the hostel, a free BBQ for guests to use, shared well-equipped kitchen and shared bathroom facilities.
