P. M. GORDON ASSOCIATES - Key Persons

Peggy M. Gordon - President

Job Titles:
  • President
  • Associates, Inc
P. M. Gordon Associates was founded in 1982 by Peggy M. Gordon (hence the name of the company). Peggy began her career at Addison-Wesley, where she edited and produced textbooks in technical fields such as mathematics, chemistry, and physics. Later she served as Managing Editor for University Park Press, a medical publisher. At Crane, Russak & Company, New York, she supervised the production of scholarly journals, and in Philadelphia she produced both trade and scholarly books at the Institute for the Study of Human Issues and the Jewish Publication Society. By the time she founded Gordon Associates, she had hands-on experience in a wide variety of publishing fields. Her husband, Douglas Gordon, who soon joined her in the company, also has many years of publishing experience. After learning the trade at Addison-Wesley (yes, he met Peggy there), he served as Project Manager at St. Martin's Press in New York and as Managing Editor at the Institute for the Study of Human Issues, Philadelphia. Besides producing books, he has served as developmental editor on a variety of college texts. He has published five books of his own in the career training field, plus two novels and dozens of short stories under a pen name. Around the turn of the millennium, he taught himself typesetting, and now he enjoys doing design and page layout himself rather than yelling at outside compositors.
