David Quinn - Managing Director

Dave works as an Expert Witness in Civil Litigation and is able to provide a medicolegal opinion to the Court in personal injury and Clinical Negligence cases. He can provide expert reports to both Claimant and Defendant Legal Representatives. He specialises in assessing the possible presence of neuropsychological impairment and psychological trauma following a wide range of incidents in which liability may be a factor. Dave is a Clinical Supervisor and is on the British Psychological Society's Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors. He has extensive experience of supervising a wide range of clinicians both nationally and internationally, including Clinical Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Psychiatric Nurses and Psychiatrists. Dave is a registered supervisor for the BPS QiCN qualification in clinical neuropsychology. He also provides specialist training in neuropsychological assessment, neurorehabilitation, neuropsychotherapy and Long Term Conditions Management. His accreditation with the Health Care Professions Council means that he receives regular supervision of his own clinical practice as well as maintaining an active engagement with his Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This ensures both the quality and safety of his practice. Dave has been a volunteer with The British Red Cross since 2006, holding a position on the PST international crisis response team, supporting distressed British nationals abroad and has been deployed to the China earthquake, the Libyan evacuation and the repatriation of British nationals from Zimbabwe. He is the PS Lead for Wales, providing psychosocial support for BRC staff, which included the recent Grenfell fire. Dave also works with the Nasirullah Foundation, in conjunction with Dhaka University, in developing ABI and mental health services in Bangladesh. In 2016 and 2017 Dave was granted travelling scholarships to provide the first national trainings in neuropsychological theory, assessment and neuro-rehabilitation. He currently provides ongoing supervision and support to clinicians in both Bangladesh and India. Halliday-Quinn, in conjunction with other solicitors, have raised funding for the provision of books, training materials and scholarships to develop clinical neuropsychology in Bangladesh.

Dr Rodger Weddell

Dr Rodger Weddell has been passionately interested in neuropsychology since doing his undergraduate days. His first neuropsychology jobs were in research and he has subsequently been engaged in research throughout his career. He loves to collaborate with people and relatives who want to find new and viable life after acquired brain injury. This work has been an even greater passion. He deploys the insights of positive psychology, and a range of other psychological procedures in his work. He has supported Headway in various ways throughout his career. He currently provides a voluntary neuropsychology service for 4 Headway branches. He also enjoys acting as an Expert Witness in his medicolegal practice.

Louise Ainger

Louise Ainger is a specialist Neurological Physiotherapist with over 15 years' experience of working with neurological conditions. She completed her Bsc (Hons) in Physiotherapy at St Georges Hospital Medical School in London, later completing an Msc in Neurological Rehabilitation from Leeds University. Louise has worked in several different National Health Service teams supporting rehabilitation in neurological conditions in the acute and community settings. Louise has experience in different approaches to neurological rehabilitation including Bobath and the functional task orientated approach. Duties have included; Lead physiotherapist for Acquired Brain Injury Team, developing service improvements, provision of training to other therapists on Acquired Brain Injury and Postural Management and the development of joint OT and physiotherapy groups for upper and lower limb rehabilitation and self-management. Louise is qualified in Acupuncture and Acupuncture in Neurology, has completed specific training for treating Vestibular Disorders and completed Rebound training. She is a registered member of AACP and ACPIN and also a member of the Central England Research Network. Louise has also spent the last 10 years working as an independent private physiotherapist supporting child and adult learning disability gaining significant experience in assessment and treatment of postural management and equipment provision.

MARISA LEWIS

Marisa is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with British Psychological Society and Registered Counselling Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council. Having spent over 14 years working in the NHS, she has worked in a range of services including physical health, mental health, neurodevelopmental and intellectual disabilities in the community with adults presenting with a range of difficulties. Marisa is a skilled reflective scientific practitioner with well-developed core competencies. She is able to transfer these competencies in psychological knowledge, practice and skills and adapt them to the client population she is working with. Marisa remains empathetic to the needs of her clients while maintaining a high degree of professionalism. As a Counselling Psychologist, Marisa provides a safe and confidential space to explore the client's difficulties. Her work is underpinned by the humanistic philosophy, and her approaches include Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Eye movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Marisa provides support for adults 18+ with a range of mental health difficulties. She also has extensive experience of providing support for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions including autism spectrum conditions, intellectual disabilities and physical health conditions.

SHEREEN BRIFCANI

Shereen has worked as a psychologist in the NHS and independent sector healthcare since 2004. Her most significant experience is within neuropsychology and forensic services. Shereen's current role involves providing assessment and formulation to inpatients with complex needs on a neuropsychiatry ward. She is also involved in enhancing the overall functioning of the inpatient service by reviewing and developing existing processes and providing forums for team formulation. Shereen previously worked in a neuropsychology department assessing adults with a wide variety of neuropsychological difficulties. Her role with Partnerships in Care (2009-2015) involved the assessment and treatment of detained adults (civil and criminal Sections, Mental Health Act, 1983) with highly complex needs, in secure psychiatric services. She routinely provides full assessments and formulations involving the following areas: cognitive function; mental health (including psychosis, depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, learning difficulties and personality disorders); risk (violence, domestic abuse, sexual violence, self-harm and suicidal ideation), drawing from a range of assessment methods. Shereen has extensive experience of providing therapeutic interventions (individual and group) to address issues such as those above. She works closely with team members (medics, social workers, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and nurses). Shereen has provided supervision to psychologists since March 2010 and consultation to other professionals. She has provided teaching on the South Wales Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. Shereen receives her own clinical supervision from a highly experienced Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist. She accesses regular supervision and if required, for independent work (including forensic expertise).

TOM HUGHES

Tom specialises in the health services management of the assessment and treatment of acquired brain injury, psychological trauma, neuropsychological rehabilitation and long-term health conditions. He has experience of working within primary and secondary healthcare settings and started his original working career in the NHS. Tom has worked in the education sector since 2003 and is also an established music educator. He spent over 8 years working as a specialist music teacher/subject lead in primary education. Tom also currently works as a music practitioner and has been in this role for over 18 years. Tom joined Halliday Quinn Limited in September 2016 and brings with him a wealth of experience. Tom is often the first port of call for our clients and works on a Monday, Thursday and Friday. Tom enjoys performing, composing and listening to music, going to concerts and spending time with his sprocker spaniel - Buddy. He is also the music director of the Hereford Community Choir - a community choir in Herefordshire promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.
