Claire Boddy

Claire joined mb LAW's litigation department in 2017. She qualified as a solicitor in March 2012. She is an experienced litigator and handles high value, complex liability and recovery claims for our travel industry clients. Her practice also includes a range of commercial disputes for travel businesses, including breach of contract, principal and agency and enforcement. She has over 10 years' experience of handling high value and complex personal injury claims. She has particular expertise in this field are cases which involve elements of exaggeration, fabrication and fraud. This includes representing our clients in respect of fraudulent claims against holiday companies.

Claire Ingleby

Emma Price

Emma has over 10 years experience in handling personal injury and holiday related claims for tour operators and their insurers, travel agents, cruise operators and hotels. Her expertise is wide ranging from negotiating claims pre issue, to advising on and handling fast and multi track claims involving injury, illness and fatalities sustained during travel and leisure activities. Emma has built up a wealth of experience in defending illness claims, including high value individual claims involving complex secondary conditions such as chronic fatigue, class actions and fraudulent claims. Notable cases include Matthews v TUI UK Limited (where the court held there was no defect to a lift which caused injury to the Claimant) and Hughes v TUI UK Limited (where the claimant discontinued her illness claim two days before trial). She was also part of the mb LAW team that successfully defended the group action of Booth and Others v Cosmosair Plc , recovering a significant proportion of Cosmos' legal costs. She also has considerable experience in making recovery claims for tour operators against overseas suppliers in multi various jurisdictions. Notable recoveries include £320,000.00 for her clients from suppliers based in Egypt, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Spain, Greece and Bulgaria.

Gary Tweddle

Gary joined mb LAW in 2002. Prior to that he worked in the travel industry as legal services manager for the Specialist Holiday Group, now known as Travelopia, having worked in various parts of the industry before then. His extensive experience and knowledge of the travel industry built up over a number of years means he is ideally placed to understand and respond to clients' needs quickly and effectively. Gary undertakes a mixture of defendant personal injury litigation and commercial litigation for the travel industry. He has a particular strength in overseas recoveries and is routinely involved in commercial claims on behalf of tour operators against overseas suppliers in multiple jurisdictions. He has build up a significant practice in respect of Caribbean based clients and cases with a particular emphasis on recoveries from this region. Cases of particular note include X v Kuoni Travel Limited (where Kuoni was found not liable to the claimant for a rape committed by an employee of a Sri Lankan Hotel) and Thomas v Virgin Holidays & MRI/ Rex Resorts (a successful defence of a salmonella illness claim on causation). His strength in medical causation has enabled him assist tour operators defend high value complex injury claims. He has also built up particular expertise on the complex issue of agency and principal relationships in travel claims, having successfully defended a number of businesses on this particular point.

Ian Hopkinson

Katie Spencer

Katie joined mb LAW in 2017 and is a solicitor. She supports our team of qualified solicitors across the firm in the fields of commercial, regulatory and litigation. She has a case load of her own which include personal injury claims against the travel industry. She has worked on and provided support on high value and complex litigation including catastrophic injury claims and costs issues before the Court of Appeal. She has also provided support in respect of a private prosecution brought by a tour operator client against consumers pursuing a fraudulent illness claim.

Nadia Bhatti

Nadia joined mb LAW in 2019 and is a Solicitor. Prior to joining the firm she has managed her own caseload in pre litigated claims against the travel industry and also has experience with industrial disease work. During her time dealing with pre litigated travel work, she was also seconded to the Caribbean in St Croix to assist with catastrophic work after Hurricane Maria to provide support.

Nafisha Alli

Nafisha joined mb LAW in 2011. She is involved in all areas of mb LAW's practice but has a particular interest in litigation. Nafisha has defended many claims for cruise lines and tour operators and various other travel related clients of mb LAW. She has built up significant advocacy experience by appearing and representing defendant travel businesses in county courts across the country. She has developed invaluable experience of the approach taken by judges in travel cases and can deal with multi-various disputes faced by holiday companies on a day to day basis allowing her to provide realistic and practical advice. She is also experienced in managing group action claims involving overseas accidents and illness outbreaks. Nafisha has enjoyed working closely with Ian Hopkinson, assisting in defending complex catastrophic claims of significant value. She is experienced in bringing third party indemnity proceedings against hoteliers based in overseas jurisdictions in Europe and beyond. Nafisha is able to provide advice in respect of a variety of commercial disputes including breach of contract claims, disputes involving principal, agency and supplier contracts and copyright issues. She has also defended multi-party public liability claims dealing with occupiers and employers liability issues. Nafisha has further acted for clients in a variety of property disputes including landlord and tenant.

Robin Adams
