Andrew established Kingfisher Funerals in 2010 because he saw a need for a truly independent funeral directing business. Andrew believes very much in being ‘hands-on' and will often be seen in the offices, answering the phone, arranging and conducting funerals. A dog lover, Andrew introduced Roxie the labrador to Kingfisher, and now welcomes dogs to visit the premises whenever their owners consider it suitable.
John Corrigan, passed away suddenly but peacefully at St John's Hospice, Moggerhanger, on Tuesday 10th October 2023, aged 74 years. Julie joined Kingfisher in December 2022, and has quickly become a valued member of the team. Julie's background in administration and customer service has given her the qualities needed to work closely with bereaved clients, and she arranges funerals at all three of our offices. Julie enjoys photography, reading and cooking, and spends her spare time with friends and looking round antique markets.
Lorraine is a self-employed funeral celebrant who joined the team at Kingfisher in March 2017, having spent the last 20 years as a registered nurse working in New Zealand and the UK. She has been privileged to care for some amazing people over the years who she says have taught her a great deal about human courage and strength. This knowledge and life experience underpins everything she has to offer as a funeral celebrant, and she brings true empathy and compassion to her role. Lorraine spends her spare time with her family and 2 young collies with whom she enjoys walking the Great British countryside and coastal paths.
Nicki has worked with Kingfisher since 2014, having been introduced to their unique and refreshing approach to funerals during her training as a Civil Funeral Celebrant. Nicki worked for many years as a qualified specialist nurse caring for patients and their families who were accessing end-of-life care services. She was passionate about ensuring individuality, dignity and respect for each person in her care - an ethos Nicki now continues in the bespoke ceremonies she creates with families, for their loved ones. Nicki is a member of the Institute of Civil Funerals and works across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Bedfordshire in a freelance capacity. Nicki enjoys entertaining family and friends, baking and gardening - where her two free range hens are never far from her side.
Philip is based at Gate Lodge in St Neots, and arranges and conducts funerals managed by this office. A life-long St Neots resident, Philip is well-known in the town. He worked as a funeral director in Cambridge for 12 years before returning to his home town and joining Kingfisher in February 2015. Philip brings a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere to the company, and is much appreciated by the clients he works with. His hands are kept full by his three young daughters, and when he gets a moment to himself Phil enjoys playing pool at the local snooker club.
Richard is the newest member of our team. He comes to Kingfisher Funerals with 10 years' experience in the funeral profession. Initially training and working in South London, Richard then moved with his family to Cambridge and took up a position as a funeral director. Keen to understand more about the complete funeral process, he then worked for a couple years as a technician at a local crematorium. Richard is kept busy with his three children, who all play football for local teams. He spends the majority of his time taxiing them to matches, however, when he does get some time to himself, he enjoys long walks with Bonnie the boxer, and eating out in the many pubs and restaurants Cambridge has to offer.
