Anne Greenbaum - Founder

Job Titles:
  • Founder
Anne Greenbaum, founder of ADG Consulting grew up outside New York City wanting to play shortstop for the New York Yankees. Discovering that the likelihood of that happening in the 1960's for a left-handed female was nonexistent, she moved on to other options. After graduating from Bates College with a B.A. in government and a plan to go to law school she took a 1 year detour to teach, coach and run a dorm at a private high school in Maine that served mostly urban youth from Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. After a year she was knew that working with urban youth was her life's work. For the past 25 years she has worked to open options, break down barriers and level the playing field for urban youth and their families. She earned a Master's Degree in Sports Administration from Ohio State University and began working in what is now known as Sports Based Youth Development. In Texas she led all-youth sports programs and the Youth in Government Program for a YMCA in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Returning to New England, she complemented her sports education with an MSW in Community organizing, Management & Planning from Boston University. Anne has worked as front line staff in school/community partnership programs especially in projects housed in Boston Public Elementary and Middle Schools. She has collaborated with teachers, principals, other school staff and families to enrich schools and increase student success. Her experience and management skills include creative supervision and development of practical systems of data collection and evaluation that demonstrate program effectiveness and help guide program improvement. Anne has led workshops for educators, human service staff and community members across the United States from Boston to New Orleans, on such topics as; conflict resolution, violence prevention, child sexual assault prevention and working with urban youth. She particularly loves doing team building using her love of play and sports to break down barriers that can hamper good working relationships in agencies and communities. In addition to her paid work Anne has also been trained and served as a volunteer mediator in small claims courts in the Greater Boston Area. Throughout her career Anne has been involved in all aspects of grant development, management and reporting, both as a staff member and consultant, for foundations, public and corporate funders. She has created staffing models and logic models to help agencies establish and attain reachable goals and objectives; developed program and proposal budgets that meet grant requirements; and worked with external grant writers to create the context and information needed to win major multi-year funding awards. Her most rewarding work recognition was a complete surprise. In 1997 the Boston based City Year Team she worked with nominated her for the Moccasins Award. At the year-end celebration she received The City Year Moccasins Award which is presented to one individual "whose talents, idealism, and commitment are a source of leadership and inspiration for City Year corps members and others in the community." When not working Anne enjoys travel and photography and whenever possible, combining the two.
