Daniel Houten

Job Titles:

Daniel has a BSc in Sports Therapy from the University of Worcester which he achieved in 2016 and then went on to graduate from the University of Birmingham in 2019 with an Msc in Physiotherapy. He is now a charted physiotherapist having worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, completing a rotational post in Outpatients, Oncology and Haematology and on Cardiac and Critical Care. He is now working part time at the practice and also as a full time MSK physiotherapist at Corbett Hospital, where he also works on the Trauma & Orthopaedic ward and within sport as a part time sports physiotherapist at West Bromwich Albion Academy with ages 9-18. He even worked for Team GB Ultimate Frisbee travelling with the U17 women team to the European Championships in Poland. Daniel has knowledge on myofascial taping, strength and conditioning and exercise prescription and has a special interest in sporting and lower limb injuries. Daniel has an interest in both hands-on techniques and exercise rehabilitation for treating patients. When not working as a Physiotherapist Daniel regularly attends West Bromwich Albion football matches and is an avid runner and gym goer and also regularly plays 5-a-side football.

Diane Behari

Diane started training in 1980, after qualification Diane worked at the Royal Wolverhampton for three years before taking a senior post in Rheumatology. She also studied Rheumatology and hydrotherapy post-graduate at Bath in 1987 and then moved to Dudley Guest as a senior in charge of a regional Rheumatology unit helping set up the service. Diane worked for Dudley health authority for a number of years before leaving after the birth of her daughter in 1994 to work in private practice. I have since done a number of post-graduate courses in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and qualified as an acupuncturist in 1995.

James Johnson

James is a chartered physiotherapist working in private practice. He graduated from Coventry University in 2006 with an honours degree in physiotherapy. Since then, James has worked in both the NHS and private sectors including spending time with Stourbridge Rugby Club first team and Birchfield Harriers Athletics Club. He now specialises in musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. James has completed an extensive programme of Post-graduate training and development including acupuncture, myofascial taping, foot and ankle biomechanics and Pilates.

Jon Behari

Job Titles:

Jon has worked in private physiotherapy practice for over 20 years having qualified as a physiotherapist in 1988. Reflecting on his career in order to compose this profile has made Jon realise just how much physiotherapy practice has expanded and developed during this time. Jon's first job was a junior physiotherapist at the glamorous location of Russell Hall Hospital (it was new back then!) This was a good rotational post offering a broad range of experience in all areas of practice, during this time he developed my interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation and musculo skeletal medicine. Between 1990 and 1994 Jon continued to work in Dudley and Birmingham Hospitals. Jon also completed a Master's degree in research methods and human movement at University Central England. During this period Jon started to work privately with a group of orthopaedic surgeons who were pioneering "Key Hole" surgical techniques. Jon is a member of the British Institute of Musculo skeletal Medicine and the association of Orthopaedic Chartered Physiotherapists. He is also an active member of The Acupuncture association of Chartered Physiotherapy and Physiofirst.

Julia Dawson

Julia graduated from Pinderfields College of Physiotherapy, Wakefield in 1989. Her early employment was at the university hospital of Wales (uhw), Cardiff where she rotated around all aspects of physiotherapy for three years. Julia has a particular interest in neuro rehabilitation at that time, UHW had a specialist acute neurology unit where she gained a lot of experience in treating head injuries and strokes. Julia felt that her skills lay with the rehabilitation side of physiotherapy. In 1994 Julia travelled to Michigan, USA and worked in rehabilitation hospital in Southfield, Michigan on the outskirts of Detroit. Julia worked at this hospital for two years and became head of the outpatient department. Julia felt she gained a lot of experience in all aspects of outpatient and neurological conditions and dealing with a private healthcare system. In 1996 she felt that she wanted to improve her skills further into musculoskeletal conditions and move to Chelsea, Michigan to a sports injuries clinic. Julia developed her skills in soft tissue techniques, i.e. muscle energy, myofascial release and exercise therapy.

Kay York

Kay York graduated from Wolverhampton School of Physiotherapy in 1985. Her early employment was at New Cross Hospital, The Royal Hospital, Wolverhampton and Birmingham Heartlands where she worked in a rotational capacity in all specialities including hydrotherapy. This enabled Kay to gain a broad spectrum of experience. She had a keen interest in sports injuries and had an elective placement at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. This led her to working on the medical team of the London Marathon for five years. In 1991 Kay moved to Dudley Health Authority where she specialised in outpatient/musculoskeletal conditions. Posted in the community, she helped to establish the community physiotherapy service, setting up "in house" physiotherapy clinics in health centres and GP surgeries.
