Aby Yasodharan

I joined the Solent Grange nursing team in March 2021 as an RN, transitioning from Critical Care and Interventional Nephrology Nursing to Dementia Care. While initially overwhelming as an overseas RN adapting to the UK's health and social care ecosystem, I overcame challenges with the support of experienced colleagues and management. As a Clinical Lead Nurse, my role involves overseeing resident care, leading and mentoring our nursing team, and providing holistic dementia care that prioritises emotional, social, and mental well-being.

Adam Gaudion

I joined the Solent Grange team as Maintenance Manager in September 2022. Prior to this, I worked in Maintenance within Manufacturing and Office environments for 12 years. It is a huge change of scenery but incredibly rewarding knowing everything I do helps towards keeping the residents safe and happy. Little things such as hanging their favourite picture on the wall give them a familiar and personal touch to their room, making them feel more at home.

I joined Future Care Group as Home Manager of Solent Grange in June 2021. Other than the beautiful location, what drew me to the home was the welcoming and happy atmosphere. I am always happy to support and assist Maintenance Managers in other homes in the Future Care Group. As you can imagine, there is never a dull moment here at Holmwood. I have worked with The Future Care Group for over two years. Initially, as Deputy Manager at Albany Lodge where I enjoyed the challenge of overseeing a large successful team who were dedicated to caring for over 100 residents within the home. Most recently I have been promoted to become the home manager of Acacia Care Centre and look forward to working with the team to achieve overall good in our next inspection report. As a nurse, I know the importance of delivering the very best care possible. I feel it is most important to involve our residents in creating their care plans to enable us to provide the care they want and need. When I am away from work, I relax by spending time with my family and enjoy reading, cooking and walks.

Hi my name is Bear, I am the lifestyle lead at Albany Lodge Nursing Home. I have had quite a long career in Social Care in fact 32 years in total, which started when I was just 17 years old. I started my career in care homes, and I realised that care was more of a vocation than occupation. I have gone on to work with several other client groups which include Mental Health, LD & PD, ABI. I have worked for the RNIB too. I started my career in 1991 as a care assistant, and over the years I have studied and worked hard to work my way up through the ranks until I succeeded and became an assistant home manager for ABI services. Social Care has always been my passion. I joined Future Care in November last year as the main Receptionist. I was made aware of an opportunity to become the Lifestyle Lead here at Albany Lodge and having missed direct support level I thought I would go for this role and well… here I am the Lifestyle Lead, which really is the best job in the world and a real privilege to be here making a difference to peoples lives.

I left school at 15 years old and became a plasterer, a trade I stayed with for many years. I worked for various companies and eventually became self-employed for some time. I then entered into the refurbishment management sector, working for various companies. I was involved in many projects such as care homes and housing developments; some of these projects went on for five or six years. I came to work to Priory Court in September 2015. I'd say the camaraderie with the staff is fantastic and I just love the warm and welcoming atmosphere here. It's very satisfying seeing everyone so happy and always helping each other.

My role involves creating nutritionally balanced menus and maintaining a five-star safe environment for food to be prepared and eaten.

John Prosser

I left school in 1979 with a view to becoming a chef; I left school when I was sixteen and went to the College in Ireland to study business. I started work in the care sector, the love of cooking came to the fore as I began to see there was more to catering for the elderly than I had given credit for. I recognized very quickly this was my forte as it were, and it was. For a while, I wanted to train as a social worker and go to university as I had a strong desire to help and care for elderly people. Unfortunately, this did not happen as finances would not permit this venture. However, working in the care sector was a way to carry out of my desire to help others. In 1992, I moved down to York in North Yorkshire as an area catering manager for a private care group. I stayed in this role for three years and was in charge of two homes. I then moved on to the MS Society respite care center in York as Chef Manager. I stayed in this role for 23 years. Transferring down south, I became Chef Manager at the MS Society home in Horley. In time, the home was bought by St Cloud Care, and in 2014, I transferred to Priory Court to be Chef Manager.

I have always had a keen interest in Dementia and Brain Injury after my Brain Tumor was operated on and successfully removed in 2002. Mandy Melia

I have been working at Priory Court for nearly 13 years now. I started working as a care assistant with no experience on the residential unit and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the residents and working with them. This encouraged me to achieve my NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. After a couple of years I was promoted to a senior care assistant on the nursing unit. This helped me gain more knowledge to complete my NVQ Level 3. I was then promoted to Senior Care Officer and transferred back to the Residential Unit. I was a Senior Care Officer for around 6 six years before finding the confidence in myself to accomplish NVQ Level 5 in Management and Leadership in Health and Social Care. 2 years later I am now the Head of Residential Services for Priory Court. Although the role can be very challenging at times, I still enjoy working with and developing relationships with the residents, their families.

I now have a joint role. My job is important as I'm responsible for making sure both residents and staff are happy. Acacia Lodge feels like my second home, we have a great team, hard-working but still relaxed. We support our staff in every way, whether it be matters within the home or personally, we are just one big ‘Acacia Lodge Family'. In my spare time, I love nothing more than spending time with my own family, going out for walks with my dogs, cooking and dress-making!
