James B. Edge - Founder

Mr. Edge is the founder of Cornerstone Valuation's predecessor company, Cornerstone Financial Management, and was actively involved in financial and investment activities for over twenty years. He has extensive experience in managing companies on an interim basis and was involved in the acquisition and disposition of several companies. Mr. Edge has performed valuations for company split-ups, mergers, estate and gift tax purposes, partner admissions, and family planning purposes and he has qualified as an expert witness in Virginia. Mr. Edge's professional background encompasses careers in the banking, real estate, and accounting fields. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Hampden-Sydney College and a Master in Business Administration from Rutgers University. He also held a Virginia real estate broker's license and earned the CCIM designation (Certified Commercial-Investment Member) awarded by the National Association of Realtors. While an officer with United Virginia Bank (now SunTrust) and then with Peat Marwick (now KPMG), he began and completed the three-year Stonier Graduate School of Banking program. Mr. Edge has been awarded the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Mr. Edge retired from active practice at the end of 2022 but remains an informal advisor to Cornerstone Valuation.

Sam Seeley

A native Virginian, Sam Seeley has been a consultant for over 25 years, advising national, regional, and state for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations. She developed strategic plans, repositioned company brands, and created profit-driven marketing plans. She has served as an adjunct professor at VCU for 20 years, teaching communications and marketing courses most recently in the School of Business. Additionally, she was on the faculty of the VCU International Consultant Program for three years taking business students to Prague. She guided students as they undertook major projects for local businesses including UNICEF Cz, Boscolo Hotel, and the EuroJet. Sam earned her bachelor's degree from Furman University, a master's from the University of Virginia, and attained her Accredited Public Relations (APR) certification from the Public Relations Society of America.
