The ethos of the nursery follows the principals of the Montessori philosophy, providing child-centred nursery education that allows each child to discover their own self-esteem, confidence and independence, this is intertwined with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The Children are the most important members of our nursery and our aim is to make their first experience of school a fun and memorable one... At Little Gems Montessori we provide a welcoming, nurturing and child orientated Montessori Curriculum for children from 18months-5years... An indirect approach is used to facilitate reading, writing, social and comprehension skills. We have a book corner and a wealth of storytelling, news talks and conversation. Indirect and direct route into reading are introduced through a 'phonic' approach. The children are taught the alphabet phonetically, leading onto the Montessori moveable alphabet with simple word building, and if and when they are ready, encouraged to read...
